MP boys soccer beats Howard, Central
The Mary Persons boys
soccer team is 4-3-1 after
beating Howard and Cen
tral last week.
The Bulldogs beat Central
(0-6) 9-0 on Friday, Feb. 25
at Lancaster Field.
Freshman Gavin Harris
had a hat trick with 3 goals.
Senior defender Evan Mill
er scored twice. Chance
Wiggins, Angel Martinez,
Tripp Shipman and even
keeper Jordan O’Quinn
had 1 goal each. Harris
had 2 assists and Chance
Wiggins, Luke Cantrell
and Asher Dingmore had 1

MP girls mercy rule Central
The Mary Persons girls soccer team is 6-1
after throttling Central-Macon 10-0 to open
region play on Friday, Feb. 25.
Reagan Benson led the Lady Dogs with 4
goals and Karlie Dell had 3. Jessica Good
win, Caroline Buffington and Clara Smith
each had one goal. Karsen Winget had 2 as
sists and Ella Hoover, Lilly Barnes, Caroline
Buffington, Riley Dunn, Clara Smith and
Sydney Lewis each had 1 assist.
The Lady Dogs host Crisp County (4-3,
1-1) on Friday, March 4 and then host FPD
(4-0) on Tuesday, March 8.

after beating Jones County
(2-6) 5-1 on Monday, Feb.

Monroe County had one
of the goals, hammering
home a perfect drop pass
from Carter Hays. Monroe
County's Park Davis had
an assist as well, heading
the ball over to Hays who
drove it home. The teams
were tied just 1-1 at the half
but the Vikings ramped up
their attack in the second
half.
On Friday, Feb. 25 the Vi
kings beat Northside-War
ner Robins (4-6) at home
3-0. Monroe County’s Park
Davis had two assists in the
win and junior Ty Petti
grew had all three goals.
On Tuesday, Feb. 22, FPD
beat GMC in a thrilling 4-3
come-from behind win.
The Vikings trailed 3-2
when Monroe County’s
Saturday, March 5 before
playing at Mary Persons on
March 8.

A Trust has been created under the Will of
Sarah L. Wadley Burt to provide scholarships for
boys from Monroe County to attend the University
of Georgia. Scholarship grants are awarded based
on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. The
criteria upon which the selection of grantees is
based on scholastic ability and financial needs.
The Trust was established in Memory of Mrs.
Burt's grandfather, Brigadier General Edward Dorr
Tracy and her son, 1st Lt. William Giroud Burt, Jr.
The sum of $70,000.00 has been awarded for
scholarships to attend the University of Georgia
during the Fall, Winter and Spring semesters.
