Starbucks score: Forsyth 2 Macon 2,
once Ingles completes big overhaul
The Forsyth Ingles is add
ing a Starbucks, a pharma
cy, a Chinese and sushi bar
and curbside pickup in a
$500,000 renovation begun
last week.
Crews are working nights
to remodel the grocery
store so it may remain
open during the day. When
done in a few months it’ll
be similar to the Ingles
in Barnesville. Manager
Danny Wesley said Ingles
had planned the renova
tions in 2020 but COVID
delayed it. He said they’re
adding about 50 employees
to handle the new offerings.
The Starbucks will be
where the floral depart
ment is now, said Wesley.
They’ll have free Wi-Fi for
customers and seating. The
Head inspecting Monroe County
There are a lot of new
homes going up in Monroe
County and most of them are
being inspected by county
building official Jonathan
Head.
Head works for CAA,
which the county hired two
years ago to handle building
inspections.
Head said he’s also done
inspections in Columbus,
Albany, Griffin and Jackson.
Head, who replaced Brett
Hanes as the main Monroe
County inspector last year,
said the county reminds him
a lot of Butts and Spalding
counties, with mostly resi
dential growth.
He said the overwhelm
ing majority of builders in
Monroe County do good
work. He said the new homes
he’s currently inspecting are
all over the county, from the
new Bolingbroke Manor
subdivision in the south end
to River Forest in the north.
The county set a new re
cord for new homes in 2021
by adding 344 homes.
It’s gotten so busy that
Head has had to have some
help inspecting. Kyle Gold
berg and Rudd Holt also help
inspect construction in the
county.
