Jesus late in life, in the early 50s, but he made it his life’s mis

when we reunite with him in heaven.

FORSYTHIA
Continued from Front
14 mph.
But of more than 100
vendors, only 6 bailed on
the Festival, said Stone, and
they didn’t give any refunds.
Vendors Blake and Brandi
Pinson from B’s Tees by
Brandi from Jackson had
their tent up and secured by
7 a.m. Blake said he had to
grab the tent a few times to
steady it when suddenly, a
gust of wind flipped it over
and mangled it all to pieces.
It ended up as trash in the
back of his pickup. They
had to spend the weekend
standing in the sun which
was quite welcome on Sat
urday when the high never
reached over 41 degrees.
This was the third For-
sythia Festival for Brenda
and Don Isbell vendors
from Tango Down De
sign in Eatonton who
sell wooden military and
police-themed plaques.
They said they had to hold
down their tent a few times
on Saturday but even with
the low chill factor sales
were surprisingly as brisk as
the wind. The couple said
they love the festival and
plan to return next year and
many years after that.
The Reporter caught up
with Mayor Eric Wilson
who was making his way
up Jackson Street wearing
a pair of warm earmuffs
Saturday morning. He said
the weather is always un
predictable on the second
weekend of March and
that we had some hardy
vendors and some hardy
attendees that were out
there despite the wind and
the cold. He forecasted that
it would turn out to be a
good weekend after all. And
it was. Sunday was a much
better day weatherwise with
temperatures reaching 55
degrees and no wind and
the streets were packed
with festival visitors enjoy
ing entertainment, delicious
food, and buying unique
items from local artisans
and small business entre
preneurs.
Stone said they had such
a good crowd on Sunday
that they extended the end
ing time from 5 to 6 p.m.
to give vendors more time.
Given the cold weather
some wondered if the
chamber would consider
moving it to later in the
year. Stone said that’s not
gonna happen because
Forsythia has developed a
great place in the calendar
for vendors as the kickoff
festival of the year.
