Larry Leaptrot, 64, died peacefully at
his home in Juliette after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held at 3
p.m., Saturday, March 26,2022, at Harts
at the Cupola, with Rev. Stanley Harrell
officiating. The family will greet friends
following the service.
Larry was a proud Macon native, born
to the late Harold and Mary Elizabeth
Leaptrot. He was known for his wit,
never meeting a stranger, his athletic
legacy, love for anything Allman Brothers, being a hum
mingbird whisperer and most of all, his undying love for
his wife, Holly. Larry loved nature - his property in Juliette
was his sanctuary and provided a beautiful backdrop to
watch the animals and mountain laurels grow. He grew
unique flower varieties and took great pride in his confed
erate roses.
Larry was a Monroe Academy graduate where he
excelled in football, being selected to play All-State and re
cruited to University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. He later
returned to Monroe Academy as a coach. He was a proud
US Navy Veteran - served from 1976-1980. He traveled
the world. After re-entering civilian life, he became a well
loved driver for Macon Beauty and moved on to Robins
AFB. He then became a gracious caretaker for his mother,
Mary Elizabeth; his in laws, Mr. and Mrs. Hammontree;
and Holly, in her final months. Larry has had an excit
ing last few months as his three wishes were fulfilled: the
Braves won the World Series, the Dawgs won the National
Championship and it snowed in Juliette.
Larry is survived by his brother, Eddie Leaptrot, of
Savannah, GA; his sister, Jean L. Stevens (Royce), of Fort
Myers, FL; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and nephews, special family friends; and his precious fur
baby, ZZ Top.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
in Larry's honor to American Heart Association.
Larry will be deeply missed.
"Last Sunday morning, the sunshine felt like rain.
Week before, they all seemed the same.
With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize
I still had two strong legs, and even wings to fly." -ABB
