Monroe Co. ladies host quilting show this weekend

Guild around two months
to construct the beauti
ful quilt that will be given
away in a raffle during a
show they will be present
ing at the Methodist Home
in Macon during their
“Welcome to Quilt Village”
show this weekend, April
1-2.
Local quilters and mem
bers of the Heart of Georgia
Quilt Guild (HGQG) are
presenting their nine
teenth biennial quilt show,
“Welcome to Quilt Village”.
The event takes place at
The Methodist Childrens
Home, 304 Pierce Avenue
in Macon.
Since the guilds found
ing in 1985, members of
the HGQG have presented
a biennial quilt show to
share their love of quilts
with the community. Guild
members make traditional
bed-sized quilts, smaller
pieces used as table run
ners or wall hangings, and
they respond to an annual
challenge. The guild has 50
members, including Mon
roe Countians Kathy Dar-
ley, Lisa Baker, and guild
president, Helen Anderson
who said they will have
more than 150 quilts on
display. Many of the guild
members will be at the
show to answer questions
and show visitors around.
Ribbons will be awarded to
quilts in several categories,
and visitors are invited to
cast a vote for their favorite
quilt.
In addition to the quilts
on display, vendors with
quilt-related items such
as fabric, threads, and kits
will be on hand as well
as directions to nearby
