Jim served his country in the United States Air Force
right after high school, and then worked as a car salesman
in the middle Georgia area for many years, later in life he
worked for Steven’s Transport where he retired in 2020.
He survived colon cancer, was an avid Georgia Tech fan,
wore the title of “Poppi” with more pride that you can
imagine, and was extremely loved by his family.
Written by his granddaughter is the perfect description
of who Jim was. “There was a jolly man, with salt and pep
per hair, and grey board, who chuckled deep in his belly
and spread joy and cheer. He gave presents of all sizes to
those young and old. You might open one and find a nerf
gun, other plastic roaches, and a crown for his princess,
and then all you would hear is the roaring of laughter as
all ages would play with their gag gifts. The man would
laugh and beam at his family. Because you see it was the
laughter that was the best gift for him. I think every holi
day was made special by him. The spirit he would bring
with it, the same kind that now lives on in his children,
their children, and now their children. Poppi will always
be with us in spirit. Until we see you again, our secret
Santa.”
