The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Couple banned from
Waffle House
A woman and her male friend
were banned from the Tift Col
lege Drive Waffle House on April
24 after she had a dispute with
employees. Cpl. Kimberly Barnett
answered the call and an employ
ee told her he wanted the woman
banned because she was arguing
and refusing to leave. He said that
he didn’t want her back on the
property because she was always
high on something. He also
said that he wanted the guy she
always came in with banned also.
Barnett looked for the woman
but was unable to find her. Then
around 8:34 a.m., Barnett was
completing a traffic stop when
she saw the woman walk by her
patrol vehicle and after complet
ing the stop, pulled over to speak
to her. She told the corporal that
all she did was order food and
leave. Barnett told her she was
banned from Waffle House and
the woman said she understood.
She told Barnett the name of her
friend who will also be banned.
Man leaves Tractor Supply
without paying for clothes
Employees at the Tractor Sup
ply at 130 East Main Street called
police about a man who left the
store with a bag full of clothing
items on April 24. An employee
told Cpl. Kimberly Barnett a man
wearing a pink flannel shirt and
blue jeans walked out of the store
with a bag full of clothing items
that still had tags on them and
get into a red Chevy Envoy with
a temporary Georgia tag and
damage on the rear passenger
side. The employee said he got a
good look at the suspect and was
sure he could pick him out. The
suspect was seen on security foot
age leaving the store with the bag
of items without stopping at the
register and paying. A report was
turned over to investigators
Macon man gets DU I after
falling asleep on interstate
A man reportedly asleep behind
the wheel of a 2015 Volkswa
gen Passat in the fast lane near
Rumble Road on 1-75 N around
12:30 a.m. on April 25 was ar
rested by Cpl. Mosely for DUI.
Mosley found the red Volkswa
gen, walked up to the drivers
window, and tried to wake up the
man who smelled of alcohol and
had dried vomit on his t-shirt and
pants. The man eventually began
waking up and reaching around
inside the vehicle and Mosely told
him to step out. The man took
a second to respond and began
reaching around again turn
ing the air conditioning on and
reaching for the ignition. Brown
again told him to stop and step
out of the vehicle and he finally
complied. As he was walking
back to the rear of his car, the
man was stumbling and having
difficulty walking straight and
the corporal had to give him a
little push to keep him upright.
He told Mosely he thought he
had too much to drink so he
pulled over to sleep. He said he
was coming from Macon on his
way to Atlanta and thought he
was ok after taking the nap. He
was unable to perform a sobri
ety test and told Mosely it was
impossible to complete and put
his wrists out and told him to go
ahead and take him in. He was
charged with DUI-refusal.
Woman finds hair in hotel
room, demands refund
A female guest at a hotel at 951
Hwy. 42 N found hair inside the
bathroom of her room just before
she checked out, became upset
because she was refused a refund
and called police on April 25.
Officer Anais Benjamin answered
the call and the woman told him
she called the front desk to speak
with someone about the problem
and getting a refund but was
told no because it was just before
check-out time. She told Benja
min she asked him for a corpo
rate contact but he would not
give it to her and they got into an
argument so she called the police.
Benjamin spoke with the hotel
employee who said that he could
not give her a refund because she
didn’t complain about the room
until close to check out time. He
said that if she said something
closer to the time of check in
something could have been done
about the room. He also stated
that he tried to offer her points
towards another room, but she
refused. He told Benjamin he
didn’t give her the information
she asked for because she started
yelling at him.
Benjamin told the guest that she
couldn’t get her money back and
that it was a civil issue and she
could take the hotel to court if she
really wanted her money back.
The officer also got the corporate
contact information for her.
12-year-old boy witnesses
his father's arrest
A man wanted by Bibb County
was traveling with his 12-year-
old son when he was arrested by
officer John Bogdan on April 26
around 9:30 p.m. after Bogdan
ran the plates on his car and
stopped him at the intersection of
Brentwood Place and South Lee
Street. After running his license,
dispatch confirmed his warrant
for a family violence order viola
tion. The boy’s mother was called
to pick him up while his father
was turned over to jail staff.
Man tries to steal car from
Waffle House parking lot
A man was charged after trying
to steal a woman’s 2017 Nissan
Altima from the parking lot of
the Waffle House on Tiff College
Drive while she was inside the
restaurant ordering food around
1:43 a.m. on April 26. The woman
and a witness told Cpl. Jeremy
Malone a silver BMW pulled into
the parking lot with 3 men inside
and one of the men went inside
to use the bathroom. They said
when the man went back outside,
they watched him try to open the
door to the woman’s car and she
started yelling for the witness to
call police. Her vehicle was run
ning while she was inside. All 3
subjects then left the store, head
ing south on 1-75.
Dispatch gave out a BOLO
on their vehicle and deputies
stopped the car near the Rumble
Road exit. The subject was re
turned to the Waffle House in the
back of a patrol car and turned
over to Malone who read him his
rights. The man agreed to talk
to the corporal and told him he
tried to take the Nissan so that he
could get some distance between
him and the two others inside of
the car that he was riding with.

Strong pot smell ofas truck
catches attention of officer
Cpl. Jeremy Malone could
smell marijuana as a bronze 2009
Chevrolet Silverado passed him
on Lee Street at Main Street pull
ing a trailer with a burned-out
brake light on April 27 around
12:19 a.m. and later took the male
driver to jail on drug charges and
a warrant. Malone caught up to
the pickup that dispatch said had
an expired registration as it was
approaching Patrol Road and
initiated the stop. The driver con
tinued driving slowly and didn’t
stop until reaching the Marathon
station. Malone found six and a
half yellow ecstasy pills, a small
bag of marijuana along with two
small, sealed bags of marijuana
were found in a black bag in the
back seat. The driver admitted
ownership of the bag and said
the marijuana was his. He told
Malone he didn’t have any pills in
his bag that he knew of. Malone
became suspicious that the truck
came to such a slow speed but
kept going forward when he was
trying to stop it was they may
have thrown out some of the
marijuana. He began checking
the entrance to the parking lot of
the Marathon and found another
bag of marijuana with a much
stronger odor and it matched
the odor he first smelled coming
from the truck. Malone asked
the driver and passengers about
the bag he found on the ground,
but no one claimed ownership.
After running all the passengers’
and driver’s information, Malone
learned the driver had a warrant
out of Clayton County and was
charged with possession of mari
juana and ecstasy, placed in the
back of Malone’s patrol car, and
taken to jail.
The following arrests were reported by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office and Forsyth
Police Department, An arrest means someone has been charged with a crime, but the
law considers them innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
