ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN by Don Daniel
Remember ole
Lewis Grizzard
or some of you, being commended by your peers
is often the supreme compliment one can receive.
So it was for this newspaper when Jim Minter
in his letter to the editor in last weeks Reporter
saluted this newspaper as “amazing”. Minter is the retired
sports editor of the Atlanta Constitution and later to
became editor one of the most
famous “hires”, Lewis Gizzard.
Surely you know of Lewis as
the author of many books and
quite a pundit of common sense
and writer of many hilarious
experiences. Actually he wrote a
column about an experience he
and I had. Maybe, on the 50th
celebration of my founding of
this newspaper, I’ll tell you
the story.
YOU KNOW John Rick-
etson is a Monroe County
citizen very adamant in pointing out how politicians or the
wanna-be-elected abuse the law by putting campaign signs
on the road right-of-ways. As you are aware I have advo
cated political wanna-bes should be penalized and fined for
their breaking of the law. So, now with that statement out of
the way, this is what John had to say: “Politicians that place
their signs on the ROW allow their supporters to place their
signs on the ROW or refuse to instruct their supporters in
obeying the law are no better than the redneck that throws
his beer can out the window and in some respects, they are
worse”.
Here’s the meat of John’s diatribe: “If a politicians breaks
the law, or condones (by commission or omission) the
breaking of the law on their behalf just to get elected, that
should be sufficient cause to disqualify that candidate from
being elected”.
Finally John also wrote this: “Getting the road department
to remove signs (as they have been asked to do by Code
Enforcement) is not going to happen because these people
work for the politicians and they would rather eat a cock
roach than remove an illegal sign from the ROW which is
public property”. My comment, true!
Finally, John included this statement commenting on a let
ter Code Enforcement Officer Jeff Wilson sent to all candi
dates. John’s comment: “I reckon the candidates cannot read,
suffer a lack of ethics, consider themselves above the law,
or just enjoy playing dumb”. John, it is all three and playing
dumb is a classic characteristic of many elected politicians.
TO SPEAK to at the Monroe County Board of Educa
tion meeting, it cannot be spontaneous, you have to make
a request in writing 15 minutes before the board meeting
begins. According to The Wall Street Journal, a parent sued
a local Ohio School Board because the board had a policy
that allows the presiding officer at school board meetings to
interrupt, warn or terminate any public statement he deems
abusive, personally directed or antagonistic.
A long story short, a parent sued proving the school board
had abused the policy to restrict parents and the parent who
sued the school board won. And this in the WSJ editorial:
“As parents across the U.S. are discovering, the school that
was sued is not the only place with constitutionally question
able restrictions on speech at school board meeting.”
WE USED to be able to get our driver’s license at the
Georgia State Patrol post here in Forsyth. Then everything
changed and we had to go to Macon, Griffin or Locust
Grove.
Now, our Industrial Development Authority has pulled
some political strings and called in some political favors and
along with drivers’ licenses, commercial drivers’ licenses are
going to be available right here in Monroe County-Forsyth
in the near future.
A new building is going to be constructed on Industrial
Park Drive and 10 or 12 people will be hired to work at the
facility.
RECEIVED A lot of correct answers to last week’s The
Question naming Brandt Harvil as the off-duty fireman who
helped put out the fire at Wal-Mart. Since Lisa Jenkins and
Kimberly Banks were the first, just two seconds apart, with
the correct answer, both are going to get goodie certificates
for a Big Peach car wash, Whistle Stop fried green tomato
appetizer, single dip at Scoops, slice of Jonah’s Pizza, slice of
Shoney’s strawberry pie, Dairy Queen Blizzard and a dozen
Dunkin Donuts.
Here’s The Question of this week: Mary Persons High
School has added another sport. Name the sport. First
correct answer after 12 noon on Thursday gets the goodie
certificate.
HERE ARE a few unattributed county commissioner
comments from last weeks’ meeting: “I’ve got a way for
ward”; “Just to clarify”; “Sell it to Joe’s Liquor Store”; “That
gymnastic stuff”; “Do you have a gut feeling?” “What you
asking for is good”; “Let’s do it like this:” “I’ll be honest with
you. Is just one vote”; “That ends your commercial session”;
“Vehicle want be used to go back and forth to McDonald’s”;
“Correct me if I am wrong”; “I’m gonna throw this out”; and
this one: “trying to capsulate”.
Over at the county, it was bill paying time and one of
the biggest checks, $ 16,117.84, was paid for “second year
flight imagery”. Walthall Oil Company got paid $33,672.05
gasoline and a couple other items. Shirley Wall was paid
$135 for one umpire. United Bank’s county credit card got
paid $5,746.59 which included a couple of charges to Go
Daddy. Commissioner Eddie Rowland got reimbursed $900
for travel and Hyatt Regency in Savannah. Monroe County
Sherriff s Department got two contribution checks each
for $1,000 from Commissioners Lamarcus Davis and Greg
Tapley. Eighty checks were written totaling $189,039.02

JUST THE WAY IT IS by Sloan Oliver
Biden to control disinformation
T he goal of tyrants,
dictators, and op
pressive govern
ments is to gain
power and then stay in
power. They largely
do this by control
ling information
- the information
available and who
has access to it. In
formation is power,
and tyrants use
information
to gain power.
So, for a king,
the church, etc. to gain
power and stay in control,
they tried to monopolize
information. Throughout
most of history, that was
an easy task because there
were few books and few
people could read. There
was no radio, TV, internet,
or libraries. For the vast
majority, the Bible, Quran,
etc. was the single source
of information. If it wasn’t
in the Bible, you didn’t
need to know it. The king,
bishop, caliph, etc. would
tell you what you needed
to know, and that was it.
THAT CHANGED
with the rise of modern
society. Education and
increased literacy, print
ing of books, radio, TV,
and the internet provided
information to billions of
people. However, tyrants
and oppressive regimes
still managed to control
the information available
to their citizens. State
sponsored media in coun
tries like the Soviet Union,
North Korea, China, Tur
key, and Iran insured the
people heard only what
the government allowed.
All other information was
labeled “disinformation”
and was banned. Facts
that made the government
look bad were banned as
dangerous misinforma
tion, were not allowed
to be disseminated, and
became a crime to share.
AN EXAMPLE of
“facts are a crime” is the
Armenian (and Christian)
massacre by Turkey dur
ing WWI. Over 1 million
were killed in that geno
cide. Yet, in Turkey, it’s a
crime to teach that Ar
menians were massacred.
The fact that genocide
occurred is oppressed,
ignored and criminal
ized to the point where
most Turks have never
heard of it; or, if they have,
they call it disinforma
tion. Same thing in North
Korea, a country
totally cut off
from the outside
world such that
the people only
know what their
government tells
them. The
old So
viet Union’s
media was
called Pravda. The Soviets
told Pravda exactly what
to publish - disinforma
tion (lies) that was positive
toward communism and
misinformation (more
lies) about the United
States and the West, all to
keep the people ignorant
of the truth.
AMERICANS ARE
smug about the informa
tion we receive, knowing
that “our information isn’t
censored.” Hahaha - how
naive, how quaint, how
20th century? Reminds
me of a comment from a
Chinese citizen when he
asked, “You Americans
actually believe your
media?” Excellent obser
vation in question form.
He couldn’t understand
how Americans, seem
ingly intelligent, would
still believe our media or
government. If someone
lies to you time and time
again (i.e. Joe Biden), and
you know they’re lying;
how or why would you
continue to believe that
person or that source of
information?
LEFTISTS IN America
have long been enthralled
with communists, tyrants,
and dictators; largely
because those regimes
control information, and
thus control the people.
The NY Times ran praise
pieces of the Soviet Union
under Stalin by “journal
ists” held spellbound
by communism. Bernie
Sanders loved commu
nism so much that he
honeymooned in (1988)
the Soviet Union. Obama
had a Chairman Mao
Christmas ornament on
the White House tree.
Don’t forget when Obama
praised Cuba in his 2016
visit to that communist
nation. So, it’s no sur
prise that Biden (and his
Democrat regime) would
emulate communists and
control information with
his newly formed Disin
formation Governance
Board (DGB), headed by
Nina Jankowicz, under the
Department of Homeland
Security.
THE DGB is as Or
wellian as it sounds. It will
attempt to eliminate “dis
information” by censoring
and silencing opposing
viewpoints, by labelling
them as misinformation.
Jankowicz is absolutely
perfect for the position. In
Oct 2020, the NY Post ran
a devastating factual ar
ticle about Hunter Biden’s
laptop with emails that
directly linked the Biden
family (including Joe) to
corruption in Ukraine and
China. Well, Jankowicz
tagged the article as “disin
formation” and managed
to have it censored (si
lenced) by Twitter, Face-
book, the NY Times, and
all other media. A 100%
accurate and true story
about Biden’s corruption
was completely silenced,
only weeks before the
election. The only lie, the
only misinformation was
told by Jankowicz, and by
the media when they lied
about the true story. Now,
Biden and the Dems have
formalized the process
of silencing information
they don’t like by calling
it disinformation, which
means it can be censored
and eliminated. After all,
your government knows
better than you what is
accurate or not. Biden’s
leftist agenda will be ad
vanced because it’s truth
ful and accurate which, by
definition, means that any
opposition is not truthful
and will be silenced. See
how that works?
LET’S USE an example.
When Dr. Fauci said
that masks didn’t pre
vent the spread of Covid
and shouldn’t be worn;
if the DGB had been in
existence, it would have
silenced and censored all
other points of view as dis
information. Then, weeks
later, when Fauci said we
must wear masks to pre
vent the spread of Covid,
the DGB would immedi
ately go to work to insure
the new “masks must be
worn” narrative is the
only information allowed.
Another example, you
think there’s a crisis at the
border with thousands of
illegals entering every day.
Wrong. Biden says there is
no crisis; the border is un
der control which means
his message is allowed
on Twitter while yours
is censored and silenced
as disinformation. To
continue with disinforma
tion that must be silenced,
gas is at record high prices
due to Biden’s policies and
war on petroleum. Biden
claims spiking gas prices
are due to Putin’s invasion
of Ukraine. Biden’s claim
is a lie but the DGB will
censor and silence voices
that oppose his narrative
by labelling opposition as
disinformation. The DGB
will insure the Democrat,
Leftist, Biden narrative is
advanced. Other view
points will be silenced.
OF COURSE the DCB
is un- American; of course
it’s anti-1st Amendment;
of course it’s illegal. What
are you going to do about
it? You gonna complain to
Joe Biden? Hahaha - he
started the DGB; he wants
to silence opposition.
You gonna call Senator
Warnock, Ossoff, Sanford
Bishop (D-GA) or Stacey
Abrams? Seriously, they
agree with Biden 100%
of the time. What about
Merrick Garland, the At
torney General? The DGB
could only be formed with
his approval. If there’s
a single Democrat who
disapproves of the Dis
information Governance
Board, at any level of
government, in the media,
or in Hollywood they are
completely silent. They
have censored themselves
which is exactly what the
Dems want - to control
information so they can
stay in power.
