Julia Ann Stallings
August 2, 1937-May 30, 2022
Mrs. Julia Ann "Julie" Stallings, 84, of Culloden died
Monday, May 30,2022, at Monroe County Hospital.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Stallings were held on
Thursday, June 2 in the Culloden City Cemetery with Mr.
Troy Chaney officiating. The family received friends at the
cemetery immediately following the service.
Mrs. Stallings was born Aug. 2,1937, in Lake Wales,
Fla., to the late Albert M. Shrigley, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth
Rutherford Shrigley. She was a 1955 graduate of Stuart
High School in Martin County, Fla., and she was previ
ously employed as a secretary for Pierson Milling Com
pany.
Mrs. Stallings was a city council member for Culloden,
serving from 1990 until 2013. Mrs. Stallings was an avid
hunter who loved farm life and animals. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
William Charles Stallings, and a brother, Robert "Bob"
Shrigley. Mrs. Stallings is survived by her son, Michael
Rhodes of Sacramento, CA, her brother, Albert M. "Bo"
Shrigley, Jr., and two cousins: Anne B. Hodges and Julia
Kuni.
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge

Mr. James Hugh Sr. passed on Monday,
May 30,2022. Graveside services were
held 11:00 am Monday, June 6th, 2022
at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, 100
Community House Road, Barnesville,
Georgia 30204. Reverend Eddie Collier
officiated.

The Reporter not only
won first place for Best
Community Service, but
also second place as well
for a series of articles
detailing county commis
sioners’ desire to raise both
the sales tax and property
taxes. Under public scru

The Reporter also won
a second place award for
Best Headline Writing for
the headline “Scattered,
smothered and DUI” on a
story in the Jan. 27,2021
Reporter. The story was
about a Forsyth man ar
rested after he staggered
into the Tift College Drive
Waffle House to pickup a
to-go order at 3:45 a.m„
told five Monroe County
deputies seated inside he
wasn’t driving home, and
then proceeded to get back
in his car and drove off.
The newspaper also
won third place for Best
Editorial Page, Best Sports
Section and Best Spot

photograph was the one
of a Forsyth man on his
tractor picking up coffee in
the drive-thru of the new
Starbucks.
“The captured moment
is an interesting blend of
small town, rural residents
meeting an urban coffee
chain,” wrote the judges.
The contest was judged
this year by journalists
from the Mississippi Press
Association.
Davis said it’s encourag
ing that the Reporter staff
was once again honored
for its excellent work. But
he said more important is
that the strong content the
Reporter delivers every
week helps the newspaper
develop a strong bond

Bryson found him 30 minutes later and charged him for
obstruction, bicycle infraction, fleeing, and riding a bike
on the wrong side of the road. His mother, Evelyn Griffin,
picked up his bicycle after he was taken to jail.
Two days later, on June 6, deputy Shania Hawkins was
dispatched to High Falls State Park and met with a park
ranger who told her he found a computer next to the river
where Jones had been hiding. Griffin said she knew her
son had a computer but wasn’t sure of the make or model.
James Gary McGaha
December 21,1950 - May 31, 2022
James Gary McGaha, 71 of Rex Geor
gia passed away unexpectedly on May
31,2022, at Piedmont Henry Hospital.
Gary is predeceased by J.C. and Net
tie McGaha (parents), Ronnie McGaha
(brother) and James Cornacchia (son-
in-law). Gary is survived by his wife
Della Sue McGaha, his children Christal
Cornacchia and Pamela (Tim) Mitchell,
his sisters Ruth (John) Allison, Betty (Sammy) Kitchens,
Janice (Larry) Winters, sister-in-law Marilyn McGaha and
his stepdaughters Kristi Quillen and Karli (Jason) Green
and ten grandchildren.
Gary was born Dec. 21,1950, in Forsyth. He graduated
from Mary Persons High School, Class of 1969, and was
class president. He played football there and continued
throughout his life supporting the Bulldogs by attend
ing many of their games. He then attended West Georgia
College for three years and later completed his BS degree
at Tift College, Mercer University. He was an avid football
fan and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
Gary served his country in the National Guard. He
retired from Georgia Power where he was a QC manager
for many years. Once retired Gary dedicated himself to his
family and wore his title of Papa with more pride than you
can imagine and was extremely loved by his family.
A Memorial Service was held Sunday, June 5,2022, at
his home church Rocky Creek Baptist Church 225 Rocky
Creek Rd, Forsyth, GA 31029. The visitation was at 2:00
p.m„ funeral service at 3:00 p.m. and there was a graveside
service at Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made
to St. Jude Children’s Center Alsad/St, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, TN 38105 or Cancer Center of Atlanta.
