speaking with him.
Marsh had her step out
and speak with him at the
rear of her car. She admit
ted to drinking and was
willing to perform a road
side sobriety test which she
failed after stepping off the
line and making an im
proper turn. She was also
unable to maintain her bal
ance during the one-legged
stand test, putting her foot
down several times. She
then agreed to blow into
Marshs breathalyzer which
determined the presence of
alcohol.
She was handcuffed,
placed in the rear of
Marshs patrol vehicle, and
taken to jail where she was
charged with DUI.
Woman claims man
shot her 12 times
with BB gun
An underdressed,
distraught woman was
standing on the sidewalk
outside a home on Jones
Street when Cpl. Jaleel
Brown responded to a call
regarding a possible battery
case on June 20 around 2
pm. The woman who was
barefoot and without un
dergarments was foaming
heavily at the mouth as she
told Brown with slurred
speech that a man inside
the home had shot her with
a BB gun about 12 times
in the thigh and chest. She
was very upset and seemed
to be under the influence of
some substance.
Brown spoke with three
men at the home, and one
told him the woman came
walking down Jones Street
and seemed distraught. He
said there was no BB gun
in his possession. Brown
took photos of her leg
where there was swelling
from possible BB shots
which were submitted
with the report.
Boy runs away after
hitting stepdad
with Nerf gun
A 36-year-old mother
on Unionville Road called
deputies after her unruly
son ran away from home
at about 9:23 p.m. on June
20. The woman told deputy
Joshua Warren she is un
able to control her son and
that his stepfather was try
ing to remove him from a
younger siblings room and
when he hit him on the left
side of his face with a Nerf
gun then ran away.
Warren drove around
the area trying to find
the boy but he eventually
returned home. The deputy
returned to the residence
and explained to the boy
that he needs to respect
his parents and do what he
was told. The boy said he
understood.
Griffin man escapes
into the woods off 1-75
A 29-year-old Griffin
man escaped deputies by
fleeing on foot into the
woods near milepost 190
after a stop on 1-75 N by
deputy Anthony Thomp
son on June 22 around 3:09
p.m. Thompson stopped a
gray 2021 Dodge Charger
with three male occupants
after he spotted it follow
ing too closely. When he
made a passenger side
approach the vehicle, the
driver rolled down the
window and the deputy
could smell marijuana. The
driver fumbled around in
a black bag in his lap as if
looking for his license and
after some time Thomp
son asked him to exit to
the rear of the vehicle. The
man said that the mother
of a passenger in the front
seat had rented the car for
them, and they were travel
ing to Atlanta for some
shopping. A passenger told
Thompson they were going
to visit his cousin. The driv
er gave a name and date
of birth that turned out to
be false and began to get
super nervous and looking
around. Deputy Teldric
Middlebrooks arrived as
backup and the driver took
off and ran into the woods.
Thompson stayed with the
passengers while deputies
searched the area with no
success.
Thompson found the
mans ID card inside the
black bag and the front seat
passenger confirmed that
it belonged to him. He will
be charged with obstruc
tion. The Charger was
released to the passengers.
Handgun fired at Union
Hill Apartments
Forsyth police found
handgun shell cases at
Union Hill Apartments
after responding to gun
shots on June 24, Cpl.
Jeremy Malone arrived at
Union Hill Apartments
with officer John Bogdan
where a group told them
that several gunshots went
off at the top of the com
plex at building 11 pm.
or midnight. Malone and
Bogdan found a total of
five shell casings for a .40
caliber handgun.
No injuries or damage
was found, and there were
no cameras. In front of
building 10, Malone and
Bogdan found a shell cas
ing for a 9mm. They told
residents that they will be
in the area more and try
to prevent these types of
incidents.
Store clerk angry with
police
A Valero store clerk made
aggressive and hostile re
marks to police on June 26
after police did not charge a
man who supposedly made
terroristic threats.
Cpl. Jeremy Malone
arrived at the Valero gas
station on a report of ter
roristic threats. The suspect
said that he wanted his los
ing lottery tickets back, and
the store clerk threw them
at him. The store clerk said
that the suspect threatened
to slap him
The clerk was very hostile
towards Malone and told
him that the police don’t
do their job. The clerk also
told Malone to charge the
suspect for obstruction
for denying that he threat
ened to slap him. He then
stormed away making ag
gressive comments towards
Malone and others.
Stolen pistol found in
car of Atlanta man ar
rested for speeding and
drug charges
An unlicensed 20-year-
old Atlanta man speeding
90 mph in a blue 2018
Hyundai Sonata on 1-75
S near Johnstonville Road
was stopped by deputy
Tyler Rodgers and arrested
for traffic and drug charges
around 2:06 a.m. on June
26.
Rodgers learned his
license was suspended
for having serious viola
tions under the age of 21
and had him step out of
his vehicle. After he was
cuffed and placed in the
rear Rodgers’ vehicle, two
marijuana grinders with
residue were found in his
car as well as a 9mm pistol
that was reported stolen
out of Rincon.
The man told the deputy
he bought it from someone
his friend knew for $750,
and he trusted his friend
100%. He added that the
person he bought it from
was not, “shady’ He said he
had no idea it was stolen.
The vehicle was turned
over to Mid Ga Towing
and he was taken to the
Monroe County Jail where
he was cited for speeding,
driving without a license,
and possession and use of a
drug-related object.
City Park Vandalized
Someone painted a swas
tika and vulgar words on a
ramp at Forsyth City Park.
On June 27, Cpl. Kimber
ly Barnett noticed red paint
on the back side of the
skate park. An unknown
person spray painted a red
swastika and vulgar words,
which appeared to be
nicknames. Barnett called
the Forsyth Fire Chief,
who had someone com
ing to work on the splash
pad. The Chief said that he
would get them to cover it
up before families showed
up at the park.
Two men rob conve
nience store
Two men robbed the con
venience store near Ingles
on June 30.
Officer David Asbell
answered the call where the
manager told him he had
gone to get the deposits
out of the back office and
realized they were gone. In
the security video footage,
one man is seen distract
ing the clerk at the counter
while the other went to the
back office. The men then
exited the store with a bag
containing $8,708.
The video and case was
turned over to investiga
tion.
Woman has seizure
after son is found
A Forsyth mother was
taken by EMS due to a
seizure on June 30 after her
9 year-old son had been
found after being assumed
missing.
Officer John Bogdan
arrived at America’s Best
Value Inn to speak to
residents and the mother of
the missing child. Bogdan
was in the process of look
ing at video when he heard
people saying that the child
was found. The mother
then began seizing. Fire
and Rescue reported to the
hotel.
Fire and Rescue stated
that a man was making
terroristic threats against
them. The man was ar
rested and seperated from
the crowd. Residents stated
that this wasn’t true, and
the man was taken out of
handcuffs. He said that
he didn’t intend to slap any
one. He just wanted Fire
and Rescue to move faster.
It was then found that the
child was found walking on
Powerhouse Road on the
way to his grandmother’s
house. The mother was
then taken by EMS.
Man calls officer racist
A Florida man called an
officer racist on July 2 after
being arrested for not sign
ing a citation for parking in
the road.
Cpl. Kimberly Barnett
pulled over a tractor trailer
in the center turn lane on
N Lee Street in front of
the Valero gas station. The
trailer was unoccupied.
A man came out of the
Starbucks and went to the
driver’s side of the trailer.
After getting his license
and registration, Barnett
gave the driver a citation to
sign for improper parking.
The driver said “no.”
Barnett placed the driver
under arrest. The driver
tried to get out of the arrest
and sign the citation, but it
was too late. He called Bar
nett racist and said that he
was only arrested because
he was an immigrant. The
driver was taken to the
Monroe County Jail.
