Woman sleeping in pickup
at Dollar General found with
drugs
Employees of the Dollar
General at 8720 Hwy. 87 called
deputies around 8:08 a.m. on
July 6 to report a woman sleep
ing in a pickup truck parked
on the entrance road. Deputy
Joshua Warren found the woman
sleeping behind the wheel of a
2014 Toyota Tacoma with the
motor running. Warren reached
inside through the open window
and shut the vehicle off and the
woman then woke up startled to
see him.
The deputy saw a clear plas
tic baggie laying on the center
console with what appeared to
be methamphetamine inside
and asked the woman to exit the
pickup several times. After nu
merous refusals Warren grabbed
her arm, removed her from the
vehicle, and handcuffed her.
When asked if she had any type
of medical issue she answered,
“Not that I’m aware of”. She also
said she was just taking a “cat
nap”.
EMS arrived to check her vitals
which showed her to be in good
condition. She was then secured
in the rear of Warrens patrol
vehicle.
The plastic bag with metham
phetamine was removed from
the Tacoma as well as a brown
substance suspected to be heroin.
She was turned over to jail per
sonnel and Warren took warrants
against her.
Motorcycle rider goes to jail
for drug possession
An unlicensed 37-year-old
rider of a 2006 Suzuki was jailed
for drug possession and traffic
infractions after being stopped
by Lt. Chad Beck on 1-75 N near
North Lee Street for having a tag
that was bent up between the
two exhaust pipes at about 2:15
p.m. on July 6. The tag came back
as belonging to a 1999 Harley
Davidson.
The Rincon man told Beck that
he had just bought the Suzuki
three weeks earlier and the man
he bought it from left the tag on it
for him.
After running his license Beck
learned the rider had a sus
pended license for numerous
reasons. He also had no proof of
insurance. Deputy Cody Maples
arrived to assist, and the man
was handcuffed and taken to
Maples vehicle. Maples searched
him before placing him in the
backseat and found of small bag
of suspected methamphetamine
in the watch pocket of his pants.
In his backpack was a plastic
container with a pipe and a small
bag of suspected marijuana.
He was taken to jail and
charged with methamphetamine
possession, marijuana possession,
tag requirements, driving without
a license and driving without
insurance.
Three Ala. men jailed
for pot possession
Three Decatur, Ala. men went
to jail for possessing marijuana
after deputy Shania Hawkins
clocked a red 2016 Nissan Altima
speeding at 93 mph near North
Lee Street on 1-75 S on July 7
around 7:40 a.m. Hawkins could
smell marijuana coming from the
vehicle at the stop when she asked
for the drivers license. There were
two passengers and Sgt. Stephen
Phipps and deputy Sammons ar
rived to assist.
Asked if there was marijuana
inside the car, the driver said it
was inside his purse and Hawkins
found a white plastic bag inside
the purse with suspected mari
juana inside. Also in the car was
another purse also with a small
bag of marijuana, a rolling tray
and papers. Inside a gray Veri
zon bag there was plastic bag of
marijuana, along with a hookah
pipe. When first asked, no one
would take ownership any of the
marijuana.
The driver was then hand
cuffed and arrested for marijuana
possession, but he insisted all of
it didn’t belong to him. Phipps
read the three men their rights
and they then all admitted that
the marijuana belonged to all of
them.
The driver was charged with
speeding and all three men were
charged with marijuana pos
session and possession of drug-
related objects.
