Bad tire causes big fire on paper towel truck
A blown tire on a 201 3 Freightliner semi-truck full of paper towels caused
it to catch fire on July 14 around 4:33 p.m. on exit 1 5 on 1-475 N. Ac
cording to the report, Monica McClure of West Frankfort, III. told deputy
Teldric Middlebrooks she was in the second lane when a piece of tire
from the semi struck her car, causing damage to the front bumper and
undercarriage. The truck driver, Ronald C. Browder, Jr., of Hiram said he
was traveling north when a vehicle pulled beside him and motioned that
he had a blown tire on his trailer. Browder said he took exit 1 5 and saw
his tire had blown and was beginning to catch fire. He tried to extinguish
