JUST THE WAY IT IS by Sloan Oliver
Woke athletes ruining
sports for everyone
L ast week, a friend
said that my article
wasn’t in the Report
er. I corrected him.
It wasn’t in Section A, it was
Section D, page 4. I’ve been
writing “Just the Way It Is”
(this article) for 5+
years. In that time,
I have submitted
an article EVERY
week, even when
on vacation. So, if
this article isn’t in
the paper, it’s
not because
I haven’t
written one;
it’s because
the editor/publisher decided
against printing it. Why?
Gotta ask him. Be assured, I
submit articles every week;
just look for it.
IN THE past few years,
I’ve toned down my rhetoric
and bellicosity (a bit) be
cause my wife reads every
article I write. She tells me
if I’m being too ugly. That
means, if I call Biden stupid,
she lets me know; at which
point, I change my words
and write “Biden’s not very
intelligent.” However, isn’t
that just a longer way of say
ing that someone’s stupid?
ANYWAY, GETTING
back to the location of my
articles, they’ve been in
Section A (pages 2-8), Sec
tion B, C, and D. Appar
ently, Will puts my articles
in different locations to
insure you readers search
(and read) the entire paper.
I think he considers me the
utility man (baseball term)
of the Reporter and puts my
articles where it’s needed
most.
SPEAKING OF baseball,
who knew they played the
All-Star game last week?
Apparently, not many; it
was the lowest-rated All-
Star game in MLB history.
Or perhaps people knew,
but they’re like me; they
don’t care anymore. MLB
shouldn’t be surprised at
their terrible ratings. They’ve
gone “woke” and turned
hard Left, mimicking un
truthful Democrat talking
points. Last year, because the
Dems told them to, MLB
entered the political
fray and denounced
Georgia for pass
ing SB202 (Elec
tion Integrity Act).
Under pressure from
Biden, from Sta
cey Abrams, and
from other Dems
( w ho claimed
SB202 would
suppress voter
turnout), MLB moved the
All-Star game from Atlanta.
Turns out, Stacey, Warnock,
Biden, et all Led. Last spring,
in the first election after
SB202 passed, voter turnout
increased because the new
law made voters feel that
elections are more secure.
HEY MLB, hey NBA,
NFL, NCAA, Olympics, etc.,
we watch sports to escape
the political turmoil. I don’t
want to see Biden trying to
dribble the ball; and I don’t
want to watch Stacey on
the football field. Likewise,
I don’t care what LeBron
thinks about abortion or
that MLB disagrees with
Georgia’s voter laws. Sports
were fun and a diversion
until the athletes started
sticking their noses in poli
tics and ruined things. These
days, sports have become a
bunch of peacocks strutting
around, taunting their oppo
nents, bragging about their
importance, all while spout
ing incoherent political non
sense that make them look
stupid; sorry, I mean not
very smart. Their attitudes
have turned off millions.
Formerly, I watched sports
for the graceful beauty of the
athletes and to cheer on my
teams. Now, I care much less
about all sports; I care much
less about the athletes; and I
watch much less. The upside
-1 have much more time.
Also, I realize the emotional
stock I previously wasted
on sports and athletes who
don’t share my values and
don’t care about us fans.
AND LEBRON, you’re
a billionaire; you’re not a
victim of anything. Go over
to China, Iran, Cuba, or
North Korea; see how those
athletes are treated and what
they’re paid. Then realize
how fortunate you are to be
playing here in the U-S-A.
You were born in the great
est country on earth; start
acting like it.
LAST WEEK, I laid out
COVID lies told to us by our
Washington elites. Of lies
told, it’s a toss-up between
Biden, Fauci, and the CDC
as to who’s more deceitful. It
would be closer to the truth
if you believed the exact op
posite of what any of them
said. For example, the CDC
screamed to mask up the
children. First, masks are
close to worthless. Second,
masking kids IS WORTH
LESS. Healthy children,
under 20, have basically zero
risk of getting or spreading
Covid. Yet, even now, we
have cities and states (all of
them are hard core Dems)
following CDC guidelines
to mask the children. Hey,
CDC, according to your
own data, children are at
greater risk from murder
and suicide than from
Covid. So, stop with the
hysteria.
IT’S VERY difficult to
overlook the lies told by
Biden. Referring to Covid
vaccines, on July 21,2021,
“lying” Biden said “You’re
not going to get Covid if you
have these vaccinations.”
Exactly one year later, and
after two vaccines and two
boosters, Biden tested posi
tive for Covid. Again, who’s
surprised?
THAT’S WHAT Dems
do - they make outland
ish promises, statements
or comments about some
current or future event.
Then, when that promise
or comment is proven false,
when it’s proven to be a lie;
they just shrug “Oh, well” as
though they never made the
statement. Stacey Led about
Georgia’s voter law and en
couraged MLB to move the
All-Star game out of state.
When caught in her lie,
Stacey shrugged “Oh well.”
Biden (Fauci, the CDC, etc.)
Led about Covid. Hillary
and Dems Led about Russia
collusion. Dems Led about
the Supreme Court deci
sion that overturned Roe v.
Wade. Dems are currently
lying about January 6th.
Perhaps the “gold medal” lie
goes to the Dems about cli
mate change. Everything the
Dems scream about climate
change is a lie. (Climate
change is a future article or
two.)
FINAL THOUGHT: If
Trump and Biden (both
over 75-years old) can get
Covid and quickly recover,
gotta ask; why Democrat
governors, the media,
the CDC, school boards,
etc. continue with Covid
hysteria. Daily cases and
deaths are still tracked and
reported as though each
case is a death sentence and
we must act accordingly.
Heart disease is dangerous
to those with bad hearts; it’s
not dangerous to a healthy
40-year old. And Covid is
dangerous to those who are
at risk from Covid. Healthy
people under 75-years old,
with no underlying/pre-
existing health factors, are at
very little risk from Covid.
Stop with the Covid hyste
ria. Then again, Dems use
fear to control people.

SHAKEDOWN
Continued from Front
fatality was not a homicide
or suicide, but that the in
mate had a drug addiction
and had overdosed.
Antonnio Printup, direc
tor of special operations
for GDC, said his crews
perform two types of
shakedowns for contra
band — drugs, cell phones
and weapons — at pris
ons all around the state.
Sometimes they use a large
force do a full shakedown,
and sometimes they do a
partial one such as the one
employed on Thursday in
Forsyth. Officers move in
mates out of their cells and
then do a detailed search
through inmates’ bedding
and their personal food
items. GDC also deploys
a drug-sniffing dog in the
cells. Printup said they
also perform shakedowns
for county jails if they’re
asked. He said they did
one recently at the Monroe
County Jail.
GDC spokeswoman Joan
Heath said officers confis
cate the contraband and
destroy the drugs, but don’t
usually add more criminal
charges for inmates. In
mates do, however, receive
disciplinary reports and
russ from the Autry state
prison in Pelham, Ga. and
lives in the warden home
provided by GDC. His
wife and children are still
in Pelham and they spend
weekends together.
He said that Burruss does
its own in-house shake-
downs about once a month.
Asked the biggest chal
lenge in prisons these days,
Spann sighed and said the
type of inmates they’re
getting are getting harder to
manage.
