Mary Persons Cross Country
teams took first and second at
their home meet the Bulldog In
vitational at the Monroe County
Rec Department on Saturday,
Aug. 27.
The MP girls took first place
through a perfect 15-point score, led by varsity
runner Kolbi McBrayer, who finished No. 1
in the girls varsity race. The girls saw 7 run
ners finish in the top 10, including Lily Colley,
Abby Stembridge, Jessica Goodwin, and Olivia
Tanner.
The MP Varsity boys squad took home
second place, led by Thiago Seralegui, who was
followed by Jonathan Head, Isaac McKallip,
Breydan Funck, Mac Roeser, and Cole Battles.
The JV squads also had a great meet against
their opponents.
DOGS
Continued from 1C
the school record for yards in a game (290)
last week against Spalding.
Watson, who recently was offered by Geor
gia Tech, accomplished that feat even though
MP suffered big losses on its offensive line
this year due to graduation.
“We definitely lost key guys,” said Watson,
“but our new group Is working hard and
being consistent.. every practice I see prog
ress.”
Asked about setting the record, Watson
said he just wanted to win and didn’t even
know about the record until after the game
someone told him.
“It’s an honor to be mentioned with all
the great players from MP,” said Watson.
“A huge thanks to my coaches for the game
plan and my O Line, teammates and fans
and family for a great atmosphere Friday
night!”
Watson is sure to hear from even more col
lege coaches when the contact period opens
for recruits on Thursday, Sept. 1. But Watson
said he’s just focused on working hard to
beat Trinity Christian on Friday night.
