Woman arrested on way to slash
boyfriend’s tire at Roadway Inn
By Steve Reece

Sgt. Willie Brown and
deputy Clarence Miller
were cruising
through the
parking lot of
the Roadway
Inn on Hwy. 42
N on Aug. 23
when they saw
a woman run
ning from the
side corridor
of the building
with a knife
in her hand.
She was later
arrested for
disorderly conduct.
According to the incident
O’NEAL
report, Lamisha O’Neal,
46, of Forsyth, was running
with the knife to a blue
2003 Buick Park Avenue
parked in the lot. Marcus
Dwayne Brown,
33, of Atlanta
was sitting in the
vehicle.
Miller stopped
the patrol car
and Brown got
out and ordered
O’Neal to drop
the knife and step
away from the car.
She then started
walking towards
Brown still holding
the knife and he
again ordered her to drop it
which she finally did.
O’Neal told the sergeant
that she and Brown were
dating and had gotten into
a physical altercation over
the Buick which belonged
to her. She said that Brown
refused to take her to work,
and she was going to flatten
the tires so neither one of
them could leave.
Deputies Shania Hawkins
and Corbin Becelia soon
arrived, and they detained
O’Neal while Sgt. Brown
spoke with Brown. Brown
stated he and O’Neal had
been fighting and she hit
his face, so he left their
hotel room and went and
set inside the car. Brown
said that’s when O’Neal
ran outside with the knife
CHASE
Continued from Front
while James fled south
bound, weaving in and out
of traffic, quickly reaching
speeds around 100 mph.
Thompson caught up to
James just north of North
Lee Street and saw him
using the right shoulder
to pass other vehicles. Just
past Hwy. 83 James’s rear
right tire came off, but he
continued driving on the
rim. At Hwy. 18, he finally
took the exit but at top of
the ramp lost control of the
Charger, clipping one car
and slamming into the rear
of another.
James then climbed
across to the passenger side
of his car, jumped out, and
ran across Hwy. 18 into the
Shoney’s parking lot. Ignor
ing commands to stop,
James dashed around to the
side of the restaurant and
then to the rear.
Once he ran behind
Shoney’s, James slipped,
and Thompson jumped on
him. James then tried to
get back to his feet, but by
then several other depu
ties had arrived, and he
was quickly returned to
the ground. After being
arrested and handcuffed, he
was taken to the Monroe
County Hospital. A small
amount of marijuana was
found in a bookbag on the
backseat of the Charger.
James had several war
rants for his arrest, includ
ing 15 out of Hall County.
Two of those warrants were
for fleeing. He was also
wanted by Walton County
for robbery. In Monroe
County, he now has ad
ditional charges for fleeing,
hit and run, tire require
ments, failure to maintain
lane, driving without a
license, reckless driving,
failure to signal, driving in
forbidden area and speed
ing.
