Jackson woman charged with PUI
A 49-year-old Jackson woman was arrested
by Monroe County deputies Jason Osteen and
Jeff Wilson for pedestrian under the influence
and possession of drug-related objects after
she was holding up traffic on Hwy. 42 near the
county line. According to the sheriff s report,
Osteen had Samantha Brannon detained on
the roadside around 3:37 p.m. on Sept. 7 when
Wilson arrived. Osteen said he saw her stand
ing in the road holding up traffic and saw her toss a glass pipe to
the edge of the woods. Osteen found the pipe which was a glass
“bowl” style commonly used to smoke meth. There was white
residue inside the pipe that had a chemical odor coming from it.
The residue appeared to be fresh. Deputies noticed Brannon had
scratches all over her body from her legs up to her neck and she
continuously scratched. Her pupils were constricted and there was
a chemical odor coming from her body. She spoke rapidly and
repetitive using profanity. All signs indicative of a person under
the influence of methamphetamine. Brannon was not cooperative
while being questioned and was subsequently arrested and taken
to the Monroe County Jail.
