INCIDENT REPORTS . September 28, 2022
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Drunk driver parks in middle
of road, flees on foot
Numerous charges were filed
against the driver of a 2022 Chev
rolet Tahoe on Sept. 8 by Sgt.
Kevin Williams after he spotted
the full-sized SUV with three oc
cupants following too closely and
failing to maintain lane near the
weigh station on 1-75 N.
After Williams initiated the stop,
the male driver slowly merged into
the emergency lane and began
throwing small pieces of what
appeared to be cellophane out
the window but never came to a
complete stop.
Suddenly, the Tahoe accelerated
rapidly and merged back onto the
interstate.
Cpl. Larry Sullivan was nearby
and soon joined the chase.
The driver continued travel
ing more than 120 mph, weaving
in and out of traffic and driving
extremely reckless.
Williams tried to “box in” the
Tahoe but he was driving too reck
lessly.
The SUV took the High Falls
Road exit with Sullivan close
behind doing 90 mph. After turn
ing onto Boxankle Road and then
onto Talmadge, the driver suddenly
stopped and parked in the middle
of the road over a hillcrest.
He then jumped out and fled on
foot.
Sullivan chased him through the
woods for several hundred yards
until he was able to deploy his taser
and arrest the driver.
Williams handcuffed the two fe
male passengers and found a bottle
of an alcoholic beverage in the cup
holder beside the driver seat.
When Sullivan came back with
the driver, Williams could smell al
cohol on his person and his speech
was so slurred the deputies couldn’t
understand him. He was taken to
jail by deputy Tyler Rodgers but
could barely stand upon arrival, so
he was taken to Monroe County
Hospital for evaluation. He was
charged with fleeing.
He was also cited for failure to
maintain lane, following too closely,
littering, failure to signal, driver
to exercise due care, aggressive
driving, reckless driving, driving
in the emergency lane, speeding
(2 charges), failure to stop at a stop
sign, open container, obstruction,
and Dm
Logging truck hits
railroad crossing arm
Officer Arthur Musselman was
approaching the North Lee Street
railroad crossing on Sept. 8 when
he saw a log truck start across
the crossing as the arms began
descending.
The truck then hit the arm,
bending it out of shape and
knocking one of the warning
lights loose. The 36-year-old
truck driver was cited for failure
to stop at a railroad crossing.
Two men flee
accident on foot
A 25-year-old Waterflow, N.M.,
man and a 30-year-old Jackson
ville, Ga„ man were both charged
with numerous infractions on
Sept. 9 around 3:35 a.m. after
they left a one-car accident.
Deputy Justyn Weaver was
dispatched to Hwy. 41 S and Kent
Drive after two men were report
ed fleeing on foot from a single
vehicle accident involving a silver
2004 Toyota with New Mexico
license plates. Weaver found the
unoccupied Toyota overturned
onto its roof in a ditch on the left
shoulder and began a search of
the nearby area for the occupants.
He soon found the Jacksonville
man crawling on his hands and
feet on the railroad tracks around
1,000 feet from the crash. The
man stood up when he saw the
deputy and began to wave him
down but when Weaver got out
of his car, the man refused to go
to him.
Weaver then crossed through
the brush in a ditch and arrested
him for obstruction and leav
ing the scene of an accident. The
man refused medical services
and while putting cuffs on him,
Weaver could smell a strong odor
of alcohol.
The man was very emotional
during the ride to the detention
center and using racial slurs, such
as the “n-word” and “cr”ker”. He
even tried to get the deputy to call
him such racial slurs and stated
several times that he was arrested
only because he was African
American. He then complained
of pain briefly and then immedi
ately sat up in his seat and began
crying about how he wanted to
go home and said something
about his daughter. He then
switched back to the racial slurs
and told Weaver he was “coming
for his badge.”
While in the intake process at
the detention center, he displayed
both middle fingers and said they
were for Weaver. He refused all
intake questions and wouldn’t
identify himself. He then began
to try and kiss Weaver, depu
ties Cory Adkins and Horvath,
and officer Kent as they tried to
fingerprint him.
He was turned over to the jail
staff and cited for seat belt viola
tion, public drunkenness and dis
orderly conduct and later released
on appearance citations.
Two hours later Weaver and
Sgt. Thomas Haskins were sent to
Moore Road regarding the New
Mexico man who said he had
been the driver in the accident.
He failed a sobriety test and
produced a high positive on a
breath test and was arrested. He
was charged with open container,
seatbelt, failure to maintain lane,
DUI, DUI-refusal, speeding and
hit and rim. He was also later re
leased to appear on a court date.
Fla. man caught with
drugs on 1-75 stop
A 27-year-old Florida man
was jailed on chug charges after
his 2019 Volkswagen Passat was
clocked speeding at 96 mph on
1-75 N on Sept. 9 around 3:32
a.m. Deputy Christopher Marsh
made the stop two miles south of
Rumble Road and asked the Miami
Gardens, Fla., driver for his license.
There was a woman sitting in the
passenger seat.
Marsh could smell marijuana
while speaking with the driver and
asked him to exit and stand at the
rear of the Passat. Dispatch said
his license was suspended out of
Florida indefinitely. He was im
mediately handcuffed.
Several used “whip-it” canisters
(whip cream chargers) were found
in his pocket along with a small bag
of a suspected mixture of MDMA
and cocaine. He was arrested.
Marsh spoke with the passenger
who said she didn’t have a license.
The deputy had her step out and
a solid piece of suspected cocaine
weighing 4 grams was found in
side a bag on the backseat. There
was also a small plastic container
with several small pieces of paper
suspected to be LSD on blotter
paper.
The passenger was released
and taken to a safe location.
The driver was taken to jail and
charged with cocaine possession,
methamphetamine possession
and drug possession.
Woman arrested after
hitting woman in the lip
A Parson Street woman was
being checked by EMS when
Cpl. Bruce Hughley arrived in
response to a dispute on Sept. 10.
The woman told Hughley she was
sitting on the sofa talking and out
of nowhere another woman hit
her in the upper lip.
She had been bleeding but it
had stopped by the time the of
ficer arrived. She refused to be
taken to the hospital.
Hughley spoke to the other
woman who said she had nothing

to say except that she and the
other woman had talked about
the incident.
Hughley asked the injured
woman if she wanted to press
charges. She replied that she did
but left it up to the corporal.
Hughley cuffed the other woman
and took her to jail for book
ing and a citation for disorderly
conduct.
Florida man with several
felony warrants goes to jail
A black 2018 Dodge Charger
with heavy tint and no insur
ance was stopped by Sgt. Thomas
Haskins on Sept. 11 and a wanted
29-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,
man went to jail for giving false
information. Haskins could smell
marijuana after he pulled the ve
hicle over near the weigh station.
Marijuana was found inside the
glovebox of the Charger along
with a Taurus G3 pistol. After
running both occupant’s names
through the Georgia Crime
Information Center, Haskins
learned that the passenger had
given false information then soon
discovered he had several felony
warrants out of both Bibb County
and Florida.
He was handcuffed and after
being arrested, admitted the
pistol belonged to him. He was
then taken to the Monroe County
Jail. The driver was released with
a warning for insurance violation,
window tint, and marijuana less
than one ounce.

munications was filed against a
49-year-old British man on Sept.
12. Monroe County deputy

man’s wife in the front lobby of
the Sheriff’s Office who said that
she is seeking a divorce from her
husband, and he has been harass
ing her with phone calls.

on Sept. 7, and she told him ver
