INMATE
Continued from Front
reports of the response. One source said
a city employee called the sheriff’s office
to report a stolen vehicle. Police scanner
traffic indicated that city police wanted to
keep it quiet locally at first. Then the U.S.
Marshalls told a sheriff’s investigator that
an inmate had stolen the vehicle and the
sheriff’s office put out notice about the
escapee in the stolen truck.
Authorities in the Columbus area appar
ently saw the stolen truck and gave chase
and Jenkins wound up totaling the truck
near Phenix City, Ala. He was taken into
custody. Thomas said he’ll charge Jenkins
with theft of a motor vehicle while the
Department of Corrections will file escape
charges.
“You can never wonder what the human
mind thinks,” sighed Thomas.
Jenkins has been in prison in 1999, from
2004-07 and was scheduled to serve time
from May 2022 to 2025. Now, that may be
longer, and the city will have to look for
another truck.
ARREST
Continued from Front
hired another attorney
besides Brisendine by the
time it went to trial.
The warrants also said
Harris made false state
ments when he went to the
Monroe County Jail and
gave his drivers license, a
business card and Brisen-
dine’s state bar card and
passed himself off as an
attorney to visit an inmate
represented by Brisendine.
Monroe County Inv.
Chris Landers said they
began investigating after
a complaint from the DAs
office. He said Brisendine
had mostly done real estate
law until he hired Harris
and then started doing
some criminal law. Landers
said he thinks Brisendine
has returned mostly to real
estate law since parting
ways with Harris.
Harris also faces similar
charges in Pike County.
He has bonded out of the
Monroe County Jail but
is now in the Pike County
Jail facing similar charges
there.
In 2012, Harris was
sentenced to 40 years in
prison in Cobb County for
stealing homes from people
and leasing them to others,
according to WSB-TV. He
apparently was released
after just 8 years in prison.
NAKED
Continued from Front
Forsyth exit at Hwy. 83,
watching the suspect go to
ward Lee Street, then turn
around and head toward
the sheriffs’ office on Indian
Springs Drive. He then took
a left down Mize Street until
he came to a sharp curve.
He couldn’t make the turn
and plowed into a 90-foot
tall, concrete Georgia Power
light pole. The suspect fled
on foot and deputies spent
hours for searching for him
but were unable to find
him. They did find clothing,
including underwear, as
well as $2,400 cash scattered
around the crash scene on
the ground.
After several hours search
ing in the dark, deputies
abandoned the search. The
next day around 6 p.m. on
Saturday, Sept. 24 a passerby
reported spotting a man in
a ditch on Collier Road near
the sheriff’s office. Depu
ties found him there naked,
wearing only one sock,
covered in scratches from
his head to his feet, appar
ently from running through
the woods after his wreck.
Warren said he could see
bone through a hole on his
left forearm, apparently an
injury from the wreck.
By this time deputy War
ren said they had identified
him at Trevion Warren (no
relation) of Mississippi, and
the deputy called him by his
name.
“I’m not Trevion,” the
naked suspect replied, “I’m
Jerry Jones.”
“Like the Cowboys’
owner?” replied Warren.
“No I’m Trevion,” he
finally admitted.
Warren told the suspect
that he wasn’t going to arrest
him but to get him to the
hospital for his injuries.
“I’m not worried about
charges right nowf the
deputy told him, “because
you’re close to not being
alive.”
The deputy said the
suspect was not only naked
with scratches all over, but
also appeared lethargic and
severely dehydrated.
Monroe County EMS
took Warren to Atrium
hospital in Macon where he
is thought to remain at press
time.
The deputy said he asked
Atrium security to let him
