Jackson broadcaster: Red Devils
haven’t forgot heartache from ’21
Chad Feltman is a 2003
graduate of Jackson High
School in his 18th season
broadcasting high school
football. He moved back to
Jackson in 2019 and started
his own media company,
K13 Media, the home for
Jackson Red Devil sports
broadcasting. They live-
stream all varsity football
and baseball games on their
Facebookpage at www.Face-
book. com/Kl 3MediaLLC.

Q. MP-Jackson has
always been a big rivalry
but even moreso after the
last two games have been
decided late in the 4th
quarter. How much does
this game mean to Jackson
given the heartbreak they
endured last year?
A. Not that any fuel needs
to be added to the fire of the
Jackson-MP rivalry, but I
assure you, the Red Devils
have been waiting for this
game. Not one single player,
fan or coach has forgotten
last year. That one hurt. We
should not have lost that
game. I don’t know too
many people - from Jackson
or MP - who would disagree
with that, but we did. We
gave that game away. Liter
ally! I hope we come out
pissed off Friday. A lot of the
players who felt that heart
break last year are back this
year. I hope they took that
loss personally and use that
memory to give them just a
little extra edge for Friday.
Q. Jackson is 3-3 — how
would you characterize
those first six games? What
do the Red Devils do well
and where do they struggle
this year?
A. We saw a little bit of
everything in our first six
games. We opened the
season on the road against
schools much larger than
us for three consecutive
weeks. We lost a close game
to Lovejoy without our
most explosive player. We
won a thriller at Ola after
converting a 4th and 22
play late in the 4th quarter.
We held Union Grove to
just 7 points. We got our
tails handed to us by Lamar
County in week 4, but the
very next week, we were
leading #3 ranked Sandy
Creek 7-6 late in the third
quarter before we imploded.
Our defense is exceptionally
fast. Were not very big, but
those guys can fly. We have
a really good secondary.
Our corners and safeties
have several intercep
tions and are very good in
coverage, especially on deep
balls. Our offense is a by
committee approach. Don’t
be surprised to see five or
six different ball carriers for
us. Our kicker has the leg to
connect from 50 on a field
goal, but we are just 1-7 on
FG attempts this season.
Chad Feltman
Our #1 weakness is our
emotions. Were a very pas
sionate team, but we’ve had
way too many unsports
manlike calls against us this
season. If we can keep that
in check, in a rivalry game
as challenging as Friday, I
like our chances.
Q. Does Jackson have
anyD-1 recruits and which
players pose the biggest
danger to MP on Friday
night?
A. No major D-l offers
that I’m aware of. Were a
scrappy bunch. We have a
lot of good athletes, but we
don’t have that one “mon
ster” that everybody talks
about. We do have a lot of
very good football players.
There’s a couple of guys that
stand out a little more than
others, but again, we’re very
balanced. You’ll see #2 Car
los Barlow and #7 Okemus
Grier playing both ways for
us all night. Defensively,
#12 Bam Lyons is our leader
on the defense. He’s a bull
in a china shop. He only
knows one speed and that’s
FULL Speed. It won’t take
fans long to realize why his
nickname is Bam.
Q. Describe the new sta
dium and whatMP’s team
and fans will find Friday? I
assume the visitors side has
more room because it was
always congested before.
A. The new stadium is
absolutely amazing - if
you’re a Red Devil fan.
Nothing really changed
on the visitor’s side except
the new concession stand.
However, fans will visually

notice new additions like
the new jumbotron, the
new turf field, the new field
house, new pressbox and
probably the coolest addi

added LEI) lights, similar to
those at Peach County and
Pike County. It’s definitely
become the nicest football
stadium anywhere in the
area and we are loving it.
If there was one important
piece of advice I would give
MP fans, that is to pre-pur
chase tickets before Friday.
Q. Where should MP
fans grab supper in Jackson
before the game?
A. Well, my personal tra
dition is to eat at Buckner’s
on game days. It’s offExit
201 in Jackson. If fans are
looking to stay closer to the
stadium, we have a really
great pizza restaurant in
Jackson called The Brickery.
They serve brick oven pizza,
wings, salads, calzones,
pasta and more. Their food
is fresh and the owners are
great people. There’s plenty
of seating and they have
cool specialty pizzas. My
favorite is the loaded potato.
Q. OK time to cut bait.
What’s your prediction for
Friday night?
A. Wow.Jt’s going to
depend on which team
we bring out. The team
who played 3 1/2 quarters
of perfect football against
Sandy Creek, or the team
who beats ourselves men
tally. Again, if we can keep
emotions in check, and our
defense is on their game, I
don’t see any reason we can’t
win. I don’t see us scoring a
lot of points. We haven’t all
season. Were only averag
ing 15 points per game, so
when Jackson wins Friday
night, I’m saying 17-14 Red
