Herschel campaigns in Smart as attacks mount
By Will Davis

A cheering crowd
of more than 100
greeted Herschel
Walker in his bus
tour campaign for
U.S. senate at The
Meadows in Smarr
on Wednesday.
Media accusa
tions against Walker
about his personal
life would not come
until Monday,
five days later. But
Walkers speech
hinted that he
knew attacks were
coming and he said
he would not be
deterred.
“Were in a fight
and I do know
how to fight,” said Walker,
former Georgia Bulldog
and NFL star running
back. “Were gonna win this
thing.”
When he closed, Walker
cited when Frances
Scott Key was watching
the American flag at Ft.
McHenry from a British
ship as the Redcoats shelled
the flag hoping to take it
down. Walker noted that
those brave American
soldiers so believed in their
cause that they even used
the bodies of fallen soldiers
to keep the flag flying high,
leading Key to write the
“Star Spangled Banner.”
“It’s time for me to pay
that price,” said Walker.
“You think I’m not gonna
fight for America and for
Georgia because of their
attacks? They came to the
wrong person. I’m a bad
man.”
Running off of his giant
red bus with “Herschel”
emblazoned on it, Walker
began his speech thank
ing his wife Julie for her
support. He explained how
his campaign is like his
life in that he’s learned to
overcome obstacles. Walker
noted that as a boy growing
up in Wrightsville he wasn’t
supposed to make it in life.
He was overweight. He had
a speech impediment. And
yet, said Walker, by the
grace of God he got to go
to UGA and win a National
Championship and then
the Heisman trophy. Then
he spent 15 years in the
NFL and even competed
with the Olympic bobsled
team.
Walker noted that he also
faced his own psychologi
cal issues that eventually
forced him to be hospital
ized. He said he realized
then that all fall short of
the grace of God and that
God can still redeem and
use him.
Walker said he later start
ed visiting military bases
around the country shining
a light on mental health
problems and encouraging
people to get help.
But now, said Walker,
people are pushing a dif
ferent kind of philosophy
earth. Walker said it’ll take greatness. with everyone who wanted
that same spirit to bring After his 20-minute them before departing on
America back to its former speech, Walker took photos his bus for his next event.

on the military, one of
wokism.
“They’re making our
military weak,” said Walker.
“They’re putting wokeness
in our military. If we don’t
protect our military well
have no strength. And if we
have no strength, well have
no peace.”
Walker said he’s also tired
of people in Washington
trying to divide Americans
on racial lines. He said
Martin Luther King Jr.
was right to dream of an
America where people are
judged not by the color of
their skin, but the content
of their character. And
now, said Walker, people
are trying to push the woke
agenda into schools.
“We’re in a spiritual
battle,” said Walker. “I’m
not a politician, but I am a
warrior for God. They start
asking ‘what is a woman?’
and say that ‘men can get
pregnant.’”
Walker said the people
in charge are using the
woke ideology to distract
from their failures on the
economy and crime. He
said his opponent, Sen.
Raphael Warnock, supports
letting criminals out and
de-funding the police.
Walker said seeing the
insanity of the current lead
ership is why he’s running.
“My pronoun is ‘fed up’”
said Walker. “I’m sick and
tired of this and as I travel
the state of Georgia I am
meeting a lot of other
people who are fed up too.”
Walker said Georgians
have themselves to blame
in part for having two
Democrat senators because
Republicans didn’t vote in
the runoff in 2021.
“It’s our fault,” said
Walker. “Ask not what
your country can do for
you, but what you can do
for your country. How can
God bless me so much
and I don’t go help anyone
else? We can’t put up with 6
more years of Warnock. It’s
time to wake up.”
Walker said people on the
left want to control others,
while he wants to serve
them.
Walker noted that when
the Founding Fathers
couldn’t agree on a Con
stitution, Ben Franklin
urged them to pray. And by
prayer they came to estab
lish the greatest nation on
