The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Man cuts hose to air
machine after filling tire
The manager of the Rumble
Road BP at exit 181 told Cpl.
Jaleel Brown on Sept. 14 that a
man cut the hose to the stations
air machine. The manager told
Brown that he saw a white Lin
coln Navigator and a Ford pickup
truck parked on the west side of
the store next to the air machine.
A man could be seen on security
camera pumping air into the
Navigator’s driver side tires and
once he had finished, he grabbed
a tool from his truck and cut the
air hose to the machine.
The manager was able to get the
tag number which revealed the
vehicle was from Sandersville.
Elderly woman reports
Abrams sign stolen
A 72-year-old Forsyth woman
told deputy Matthew Sammons
at the sheriffs office on Sept. 24
that someone had entered her
yard on Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. and stole her Stacey Abrams
campaign sign.
She told the deputy the individ
ual who took the sign was wear
ing dark clothing and entered the
passenger side of a late model
pickup truck with a very loud
exhaust and drove away.
She also said a new sign could
be ordered for $16 on the Abrams
campaign website and now has
multiple signs in her yard and
wished this incident to be docu
mented.
Dollar General driver
charged with hit n run
The assistant manager of the
Dollar General on East Main
Street told Forsyth officer Richard
Maddox on Sept. 24 that when
she arrived at work at 6 a.m. she
saw a tractor-trailer parked in
the parking lot and assumed the
driver was early. She said she
knocked on the side of the truck
to wake the driver for around 45
minutes but never got a response.
Maddox checked the truck
and found the passenger door
unlocked with no driver inside
but noticed there was damage on
the left side of the trailer. Another
Dollar General delivery truck
arrived, and Maddox asked the
driver to contact a supervisor to
get in touch with the driver of the
abandoned truck.
Maddox then found damage to
a telephone pole, railroad sign,
and a yellow concrete corner post
at the Johnston Street entrance.
The damage to the truck was con
sistent with the property damage.
Maddox then called a wrecker.
The assistant manager soon
went to Maddox and told him the
driver had called the store and
that he was on the way. When the
man arrived 45 minutes later, he
told the officer he had pulled into
the parking lot the night before
around 7 p.m. and knew he hit
the sign and concrete post but
was unaware that he had hit the
telephone pole. He was immedi
ately arrested and taken to jail for
hit and run.
Family fight brings
assault charges
A brother, a sister, and a cousin
were cited after a family fight on
Brownlee Road on Sept. 25. Cpl.
Dalton Mosely and Sgt. Thomas
Haskins were dispatched to the
scene where everyone said they
didn’t see anything and weren’t
involved. A man then walked up
to the deputies and told them
his sister and male cousin had
gotten into an argument. He then
took them to his sister who had
scratches and marks on her arm.
When asked what had happened,
she said that she and her cousin
had gotten into an argument and
that was all. Her brother then told
her to just tell the truth and she
admitted it had gotten physical.
Her brother told Mosely his
cousin chased his sister from the
porch down the driveway with
a knife, then grabbed and threw
her to the ground. He then stated
he then hit his cousin in the face
with a brick.
A witness who was a relative
of both parties told deputies the
cousin was hurt and had a bad
cut to his face and that he was
inside the house. Both brother
and sister were secured in the
patrol vehicle and Haskins and
Mosely found the cousin lying on
a bed with his face pressed into a
towel and bleeding from a cut on
his nose. The man told them he
didn’t want EMS and just wanted
to be left alone. He was told he
needed to step outside on the
front porch so he could explain
what happened.
He told deputies he got hit by
his female cousin with something
as he chased her and was hit
again but didn’t know with what.
Other relatives said the man was
struck in the head with a beer
bottle by his female cousin and
then was hit in the face with a
brick by his male cousin after he
pushed her to the ground.
The sister and brother were
charged with aggravated assault
and taken to jail. The cousin was
taken to the Monroe County
Hospital and was informed he
had multiple fractures to his nose
as well as a cracked orbital bone.
He was charged with simple as
sault.
DUI charges for intoxicated
interstate driver
A man from Cumming was
charged with DUI and other
traffic offenses after a stop on 1-75
N just north of Rumble Road on
Sept. 25. A caller told dispatch the
driver of a silver 2012 Toyota Ta
coma appeared to be intoxicated
and was all over the road.
Deputy Warren responded and
saw the suspect near milepost 188
and watched him swerve over
the dotted white line and made
the traffic stop. The man denied
drinking but later admitted to
having two drinks.
He failed the roadside sobriety
test and refused to blow into the
breathalyzer. Beer was found
inside a Waffle House cup after
a search of the vehicle. He was
taken to jail and cited for DUI,
open container, and failure to
maintain lane.
Griffin driver caught with
weed and cash
A blue 2020 Dodge Challenger
caught the notice of deputies
Joshua Warren and Sanders on
Sept. 26 when they saw it in the
middle lane of 1-75 S directly
behind a tractor trailer less than
a car length away. Warren then
activated the blue lights and the
Challenger pulled over on the
right shoulder and the deputies
immediately could smell mari
juana.
Sanders had the 26-year-old
driver from Griffin step out of
the car and asked about the odor.
The man replied he had a little
marijuana inside the vehicle. He
was frisked and around an ounce
of weed was found in a plastic
bag hidden in his underwear. In
side his pants pocket was $1,503
in cash. He was then cuffed and
placed in the patrol unit.
Inside the trunk of the Chal
lenger were 4 large vacuum
sealed bags of marijuana as well
as several small Ziploc baggies.
The driver was turned over to jail
staff with a warrant for distribut
ing marijuana.
Tennessee felon arrested
for possessing pistol
A convicted felon from Lebanon,
Term, who was a passenger in a
speeding Mitsubishi was arrested
for possessing a weapon around
midnight on Sept. 26 by deputy
Justyn Weaver. Weaver clocked
the red 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander
doing 95 mph on 1-75 S near the
weigh station and made a stop.
As Weaver approached the two
occupants of the Outlander on
the passenger side, he could smell
burning marijuana. When asked
for his license, the driver said he
had never had a license and gave
his name and date of birth instead.
Weaver then learned his license
was suspended out of Tennes
see and Georgia and was also a
convicted felon. The passenger had
a suspended Tennessee license and
was a convicted felon as well.
He denied any knowledge of con
traband inside the Outlander other
than his passenger might have had
a CBD vape pen. Weaver went
back to the passenger who admit
ted he had a single CBD pen.
Inside a blue backpack sitting on
the backseat were 177 black cylin
der tubes containing a green leafy
substance of suspected marijuana.
An Anderson Manufacturing
AM-15 multi-caliber handgun
was found under the passenger
seat with an empty chamber but
loaded with a metal magazine that
contained 11 green-tipped .223
rounds.
When asked, the passenger stated
that the bag was his and he was
handcuffed and secured in the rear
of deputy Adkins’ patrol unit. He
was then taken to jail for booking
with charges of distributing mari
juana and possession of a firearm
by a convicted felon. The driver
was cited for speeding and driving
without a license.

home told deputy Justin Sand
ers that she went to the home
after work to get her belongings
so she could stay at her brother’s
house. She said once she got to
the door, her stepmother locked
her out and wouldn’t let her in.
The stepmother also said she
wouldn’t unlock the door until
law enforcement arrived, so the
stepdaughter called 911.
Sanders then spoke with the
stepmother and told her since no
eviction had been signed, she was
not allowed to lock her step
daughter out of the house.
The stepdaughter said she was
going to gather all her items that
her stepmother had placed out
side and put them in her room
and organize it then leave to her
brother’s house. Other family
members arrived, and Sanders
left.
Around 10 minutes later 911
received a call regarding the same
address about a fight. Sanders
interviewed all parties involved
and a woman said that another
woman hit her. Sanders then
went outside and spoke with the
accused woman and asked her
what happened, and she stated
everyone was in the house and
she made some food then was
going to go back to her room.
While doing so she and the other
woman got into an argument and
she shoved the woman who hit
her in the back.
The woman was handcuffed
placed in the back of Sanders’
patrol car and she was taken to
jail for simple battery.
Vehicle stolen from Roswell
recovered in Monroe County
A stolen vehicle was recovered
on Sept. 27 after it drove past
Sgt. Kevin Williams on 1-75 S
near the weigh station. The car
had window tint so dark that
Williams couldn’t see the driver
when he caught up to the vehicle
near milepost 189 and initiated a
traffic stop.
The 37-year-old male driver
from Lithonia then took the
North Lee Street exit and made a
left turn from the right turn lane
then drove another 150 yards be
fore pulling over on the shoulder.
Williams could smell marijuana
as he approached the vehicle and
asked the driver for his license.
The driver then gave the sergeant
a license that Williams later
learned belonged to another per
son. The man said he was driving a
rental car which Williams thought
was odd since the vehicle had a
used dealer tag.
Cpl. Jaleel Brown arrived and
