went to her heavenly home
on Wednesday morn
ing, Oct. 5,2022. Funeral
services were held at 11
a.m„ Saturday morn
ing, Oct. 8,2022 at
Monroe County
Memorial Chapel
with visitation being
held the day before on
Friday evening, Oct.
7,2022 from 6-8 pm.
Interment followed
in Monroe Memo
rial Gardens. Rev. Joey Ellis
Pastor of Stone Edge Church
officiated.
Mrs. Cowin, the daughter
of the late David and Donie
Whitehead, was bom Oct.
28,1927 in Webster County,
Ga. She was preceded in
death by her late husband
Thomas W. Martin Sr.
and husband, Ted Cowin;
her five brothers, Quincy
Whitehead, Warren White-
head, Adolph Whitehead,
James Whitehead, Ralph
Whitehead and three sisters
Frances Whitehead Sparks,
Helen Whitehead
Fountain and
Pauline White-
head Branch. She
retired from The
Garrett Com
pany of 20 years
in St. Louis. Mrs.
Cowin, a member
of Stone Edge
Church, was a devout
Christian that lived faith
fully for her Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. She enjoyed
spending time with her im
mediate family and church
family. She delighted in
spending quality time with
her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She will be
missed immensely.
Survivors include her
daughter, Dorothy (Dot)
Jean Tyde of Macon; son,
Thomas (Tommy) W. Jr.
(Joan) Martin of Macon;
grandchildren, Teresa
(Gary) Johnson of Eden,
UT; Thomas W.III (Chip)
(Mandy) Martin of Cum-
ming; and William Chad
wick (Chad) (Whitney)
Martin of Warner Robins;
great-grandchildren, Ashley
Pierson of Ogden, UT; Paige
Pierson of Detroit, MI;
Christopher George of Sug-
arLand, TX; Rayleigh Marie

Springhill Baptist Church, 50 E. Redding Road, Juliette. Burial will be in St. Peter Rock Cem
etery. Freeman Funeral Home, Forsyth, was in charge.

Homegoing services were held at 12 noon on Wednesday Oct. 5,2022 at Little Rogers
C.M.E. Church, 9754 Thomaston Road, Hwy. 74, Forsyth. Reverend Hilliard Anderson
offficiated and Rev. Benjamin Tolbert was the Eulogist. Burial was in the church cem
etery. Freeman Funeral Home, Forsyth, was in charge.

“When she found out she
had a warrant, she nutted
up,” said one law enforce
ment source.
Officer McCune tried to
get her out of the car but
was hooked to the drivers
door and was thrown to the
ground when she sped off.
Sgt. Asbell was struck by the
front end of Thomas’ vehicle
and thrown across the hood.
She then fled the scene.
Asbell was taken to Atrium
Health in Macon with deep
bruises and aches. Three
days later he said his shoul
der still felt like someone was
stabbing it with a needle.
“It was not a good night,”
said Asbell.
McCune was taken to the
Monroe County Hospital
with injuries to his knees and
lower back. Both officers are
home recovering.
“They did an outstanding
job serving the community)’
said interim police chief
Alexander Daniels. “They’re
in good spirits and looking
forward to coming back.”
Later that night, Monroe
County deputies found
Thomas at an apartment
in Jonesboro and arrested
her. She is being held in the
Monroe County Jail on 2
counts of aggravated assault
on a police officer and cru
elty to children.

Smith, and singer/song
writer Caleb Dunn.
“We have been
blown away by the
warm welcome and
overwhelming support
of the Middle Georgia
community over the
past year,” said Dianne
Hattaway, co-owner of
Forsyth Antiques and
More. “Our original
goal was to fill the first
section of the ware
house by summer of
2022, and instead we
have just opened the
third section of the
building!"
Carol Robeson,
co-owner of Forsyth
Antiques and More
said, "We have over 150
booths with unique
gifts, antiques, furni
ture, original art and
much more! Our
vendors are bringing in
new things each week
so it's truly like shop
ping at a new store all
the time!"

Vicki Smith, of
Bolingbroke, began
writing Children's
books during the Covid
shut down. Her books
are based on her two
beloved Papillon's, Bella
and Emmie. The
adventures and
mischief these two get
in, make for lots of page
turning fun for all kids,
young and old alike.
Vicki currently has
three books about her
fur babies and another
in the works.
Caleb Dunn is a
30-year-old native of
Monroe County. He
attended Monroe
County Schools and
Middle Georgia
College. He's played the
guitar since he was a
young teen and enjoys
playing old and new
country music with a
splash of classic rock.
With a talented voice,
he plays and sings all
over central Georgia, as
well in the praise band
at church. Caleb enjoys
interacting with his
audiences and is one of
the most genuine and
talented performers
around.
