after a
drunken argument at the Rec
Department on Oct. 5.
According
to the inci
dent report,
Sgt. Nicolas
Ortiz was
dispatched
to the do
mestic dis
pute where
he found Shan-
tine Denise Calloway scream
ing outside the basketball gym
with her child in a stroller at her
side. Ortiz asked her what was
happening, and she replied that
her boyfriend Jimmy Freeman,
33, and her were arguing. Cal
loway said they began to argue
at the pond and Freeman took
her phone and ran down to the
gym. She said she followed him
yelling at him to give her back
the phone. While Freeman was
inside the gym Calloway repeat
edly went inside and continued
to scream at him.
Ortiz spoke with Freeman who
said that he got into an argu
ment with Calloway because her
boyfriend had showed up and
confronted them both. Freeman
said they then got into a heated
argument and
got face to face while arguing.
The sergeant asked him if he had
Calloway’s phone and he stated
he did not but it was at the loca
tion they had been arguing.
Ortiz could see that both Free
man and Calloway were intoxi
cated and when he looked into
the stroller, he saw a half-empty
bottle of vodka with the baby.
Calloway and Freeman told Ortiz
they went to the park to charge
their phones, began to drink, and
became intoxicated.
Ortiz then arrested both for
disorderly conduct and both were
taken to jail.

Culloden mayor suing CVS over fall in parking lot pot hole
By Steve Reece

The mayor of Culloden is suing
CVS after she fell and broke her
foot in a pot hole in the parking
lot of the Forsyth CVS in Decem
ber 2020.
Lynn Miller, who is the mayor
of Culloden, says in her suit
that CVS was negligent in do-
MILLER
large pot hole in what she calls a “poorly-
maintained” parking lot. Filed by Atlanta
attorney Linley Jones, the suit says
Miller had the reasonable assump
tion that the parking lot was prop
erly maintained when she got out of
her 2019 Chevy Tahoe. Instead her
foot landed in a large pothole caus
ing her to fall and suffer serious
injuries.
Mayor Miller’s fall was the
ing nothing to warn customers about the direct result of the defective condition
in the CVS parking lot and Defendants’
failure to maintain the lot and repair the
pothole,” said suit says.
The suit says Miller incurred no less than
$22,343 in medical expenses and no less
than $100 in lost wages as a result. Miller
is a Monroe County school bus driver. She
also experienced loss of capacity to labor
as well as physical and mental pain and
suffering, said the suit.
Additionally, the suit says that Miller
fosters six special needs children that was
unable to care for due to her injuries. Thus
she also incurred no less than $12,540 in
caregiver expenses. Moreover, her hus
band, Charles Miller, was also listed as a
plaintiff who loss spousal services, includ
ing society and companionship, as a result.
The suit was filed on Oct. 13,2022 in
Monroe County Superior Court.
Miller is up for re-election in Culloden
this fall without opposition.
