INCIDENT REPORTS . October 19, 2022
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Macon men with lots of
cash get drug charges
Three Macon men possessing
large sums of cash were arrested
on Sept. 1 for credit card theft af
ter a stop by Cpl. Wade Kendrick
on a gray 2018 Dodge Charger
for speeding at 94 mph on 1-75 S
near the weigh station.
Kendrick approached the
drivers side of the vehicle, could
immediately smell marijuana,
and told the 22 year old driver
to turn off the Charger and step
out. The driver then reached for
the gear shifter as if he was about
to take off, but deputy Charlie
Bryson then pulled in front of the
Charger to block it in.
Bryson began shouting to the
front seat passenger not to touch
a firearm. A firearm was taken
from the front passenger seat.
A bag of suspected marijuana,
a large sum of U.S. Currency, 9
unopened gift cards ranging from
$20-$500, and 8 debit cards with
various names from different
banking institutions were found
in the Charger.
One suspect said they were
leaving Atlanta after picking up
the Dodge Charger but didn’t
know who the car, the cash, or
the weapon belonged to. He
added that he had gotten the
marijuana from another suspect.
He told Kendrick that he was
rolling one up just before the stop
and that was why the bag was ly
ing opened on the backseat.
Another suspect admitted the
firearm belonged to him and said
he believed the car was a rental.
During a search of his person,
$11,970 in cash was found which
he said was his. He said he
worked at a beverage company
in Macon making around $500
a week and that is where the
money came from. He denied
ownership of the marijuana or
any of the cards.
Another suspect said the
Charger was a rental from a guy
named “Pedro” near Atlanta and
drove another vehicle to pick
up the Charger and left it there.
He said neither the marijuana,
the gun, nor the debit cards
belonged to him, only admitting
the ownership of $6,359 found in
the car and the gift cards. He said
the next day was his birthday and
that people had given him the gift
cards.
All three suspects were arrested
for credit card theft and marijua
na possession then taken to the
Monroe County Jail. The driver
is also charged with speeding,
headlight requirements, taillight
requirements and improper lane
change.
Albany man gets DUI
after short foot chase
A 30-year-old Albany man was
arrested on Sept. 13 after crash
ing his white 2021 Nissan Altima
then running from deputies on
foot. The man drove past deputy
Jeff Thompson who saw him
drive over the fog line several
times and got behind him on 1-75
S. The sedan soon switched from
the fast lane to the middle lane
and Thompson turned on his
emergency lights. Hill then drove
onto the right shoulder and ac
celerated, quickly reaching more
than 120 mph.
Several other Monroe County
deputies soon joined the chase
from North Lee Street to Zebulon
Rd on 1-475 S, the entire time Hill
drove in an extremely reckless
manner at speeds well over 120
mph, placing other motorists in
extreme danger. The man weaved
in and out of traffic almost strik
ing several vehicles, followed
vehicles too closely, failed to
use his signal, and drove on the
shoulders for long periods of
time. At Zebulon Road, the man
abruptly exited the interstate and
began to lose control, driving to
the top of the ramp and striking a
sign. He then traveled into west
bound traffic without stopping at
the stop sign, across the median,
and struck two vehicles on the
eastbound side. Hill exited his
vehicle and began to flee on foot
but after a short pursuit, he was
apprehended and handcuffed.
A rolled marijuana blunt was
found in an ashtray in the Nissan
and 15 ecstasy pills were found in
a medicine bottle on the drivers
side floorboard. In the center
console, there was a bag of sus
pected marijuana.
He was taken to the Monroe
County Hospital for a blood test
but refused medical treatment.
He was turned over to jail staff
and charged with fleeing, DUI,
drug possession, obstruction, and
numerous traffic violations. He
also had a warrant for a proba
tion violation.
Man with loaded pistol
arrested for drugs
A 35-year-old Conyers man
was arrested on Sept. 20 for drug
possession and possession of a
weapon during a felony after Cpl.
Jaleel Brown stopped a maroon
2015 Chrysler 200 for darkly
tinted windows on 1-75 S just
south of Hwy. 18.
Brown gave the 60-year-old
male driver a warning for the
tint violation and asked about
his travel plans. The man didn’t
seem to know where they were
headed, tapping himself, stomp
ing his feet as if he was thinking
of a location. Eventually he told
Brown they were headed down
to Daytona Beach for a family
trip. He said they were meeting
the passenger’s family down in
Florida for a few days and were
coming from Florida. He also
said they were going to stay at an
Airbnb that the passenger’s fam
ily had booked. Brown told him
to wait at the front of his patrol
vehicle while he spoke with the
passenger.
The passenger told Brown they
were headed to Orlando, and
they were meeting his family at
an Airbnb for a few days for a
small vacation.
Brown then returned to his
vehicle where the driver told him
he was familiar with the area,
due to him serving prison time
for rape and aggravated sodomy
in Macon. Brown told him the
passenger said they were going to
Orlando. The man stated he was
just driving, and the passenger
was navigating on his GPS. He
said he wasn’t sure about the loca
tion, but he knew they were going
to Florida.
While sitting there speak
ing with Brown, the driver was
having a hard time controlling
his breathing. His stomach was
shaking, and eyes were trembling
as if he was having a medical
episode. Brown then asked him if
there was any illegal contraband
in the vehicle, to which he stated
there was not and gave consent to
a search.
The passenger said he had a
firearm concealed on his hip
which the corporal removed. A
round was in the chamber. Inside
the Chrysler a fanny pack filled
with marijuana was found in the
center console. Also, three small
baggies were found filled with
suspected cocaine. There was
also a cut straw used for snorting
substance with the baggies.
The passenger was then arrested
for possession of cocaine and
possession of a firearm during
the commission of a felony and
booked into jail.
Fla. truck driver cleared after
jailed for stolen Freightliner
A Lake Mary, Fla. truck driver
was released from jail after being
wrongly accused of stealing a yel
low 2015 Freightliner on Oct. 1.
A BOLO had been issued on
the truck which was spotted by
deputy Justyn Weaver around
midnight on 1-75 S near High
Falls Road and stopped the driver
just south of Johnstonville Road.
He was removed from the
vehicle, handcuffed, and secured
in the rear of a patrol car. He was
then taken to the Monroe County
Sheriff’s office and charged with
theft by motor vehicle and driv
ing without a license.
The owner of the truck arrived
and confirmed that the Freight
liner was the one reported stolen.
He also confirmed that he did not
know the driver. The truck owner
then later called the sheriff’s
office and said the Freightliner
had not been stolen but there
had been a miscommunication
of other business partners. After
the owner provided a written
statement, the driver was released
from custody without delay.
Drunk driver booked after re
fusing to take sobriety tests
A 54-year-old man was so
intoxicated after an accident on
1-75 S near Pate Road on Oct.
3 he told deputies Justin Sand
ers and Joshua Warren he didn’t
realize he had been in a wreck.
When Warren asked him what
happened he was unable to tell
him. The deputies could smell al
cohol on him and when asked for
he license he gave them a blank
stare and was unable to locate his
license.
Warren then asked the offender
to step out of the car and the man
opened the door and stood up
holding onto the door. When he
was asked to walk to the front
of the patrol car, he took a few
steps, stumbled toward the road
and Warren had to catch him so
he would not fall into interstate

New city lights
broken by vandals
The City of Forsyth Electric
Department reported on Oct. 5
that glass globes had been broken
on 6 recently installed light poles
on Railroad Avenue. The damage
to the lights was determined to be
$4,200.
A representative of the electric
department told Cpl. Kimberly
Barnett it appeared that some
thing had been thrown at them or
shot at to cause a starburst effect
and cracks in the glass globes.
Barnett spoke with employees
at the State Farm office inside the
complex at the location because
she saw that they had cameras at
tached to the outside of the build
ing. An employee at the company
set up an appointment with Inv.
Thomas to review the footage.
Walmart shoplifter runs into
woods but returns same day
Officer Arthur Musselman was
sent to Walmart on North Lee
Street on Oct. 6 to meet with se
curity personnel who told him a
man wearing a dark colored zip-
up jacket and light-colored shirt
entered the store, got a shopping
cart and loaded it with assorted
items worth $679.85 then pushed
it out the door without paying.
As he was walking away, an
off-duty Gordon College police
officer said, “Hey, you dropped
your glasses” and the man turned
and fled into the woods leaving
the cart. The officer took the cart
back into the store.
The same man came back that
same day and loaded another
buggy with merchandise which
he took out of the store without
stopping at a register. Employees
aren’t sure what was stolen the
second time.

damages mother's home
The 25-year-old daughter of
a woman who lives in a Patrol
Road trailer park was arrested
after she damaged her mother’s
walls on Oct. 6. The mother told
Cpl. Bruce Hughley, Jr. that her
daughter got upset and punched
several holes in the bathroom
wall. She said her daughter has
some mental issues and has been
off her meds. She said she was
worried about her two-year-old
