to jail.
Radiator damps stolen
from bus with a flat tire
A bus with a flat tire was
left overnight at the Rum
ble Road BP on Oct. 7 and
when the driver returned
the next morning, he dis
covered fluid leading from
under the vehicle with
the hood latch opened.
Sgt. Thomas Haskins was
dispatched to the gas sta
tion and found two clamps
missing from the radiator.
A report was filed.
Man fails 1-75 sobriety
test, locked up for DU I
A 25-year-old Chicka-
mauga man was charged
with DUI on 1-75 S near
High Falls Road on Oct.
8. Deputies Justin Sanders
and Joshua Warren pulled
over a Cobalt over near the
weigh station.
The driver had nervous
movements and glassy
red eyes and was asked by
Sanders to step out. He
admitted to having one
16-ounce beer earlier and
agreed to a sobriety test.
After not being able to do
the one-legged stand test,
he was arrested for DUI.
An empty beer can was
found under the seat and
marijuana was in the glove
box. He was cited for DUI,
failure to maintain lane,
open container and posses
sion of marijuana.
Gas station
clerk assaulted
The overnight clerk at
the Rumble Road BP was
assaulted on Oct. 9 around
midnight. He told deputy
Enrique Hogan a woman
purchased three items for
a total of $10.58 and gave
him $11 cash. He said
he then placed 42 cents
change on the counter and
she picked up the coins and
threw them back at him.
The clerk got into a
heated argument with the
customer who walked out
side the store to her vehicle
which was parked at the
gas pumps. The argument
continued as he followed
her to her 2016 Ford Focus
to get the vehicle tag num
ber which he later gave to
the deputy.
A passenger in the wom
ans car then got out of the
vehicle and confronted the
clerk, a fight ensued, and
the clerk was hit in the jaw.
The clerk said he returned
to the store to retrieve his
pistol for protection and to
call the sheriff s office.
When the pair saw the
clerk on the phone they
fled to the interstate. War
rants have been taken out
against them for simple
assault.
Man wanted by Dekalb
taken to MCjail
Sgt. Thomas Haskins
spotted a gray 2016 Kia
Optima with a male driver
and a female passenger
traveling slowly on 1-75 S
near North Fee Street on
Oct. 9.
After a traffic stop depu
ties learned the man was
wanted by Dekalb County
and was driving with a
suspended license.
Haskins could smell mar
ijuana as he approached the
Kia and when asked, the
driver admitted there were
around 20 grams of weed
in the car as well as the
passengers firearm which
was found beneath her seat.
He also gave the sergeant a
false name.
While searching the rear
of the vehicle, Haskins
found a black wallet on
the floorboard. When he
looked inside the wallet, he
located a Georgia drivers
license with a photo that
looked like the driver.
The driver then admit
ted his identity and was
arrested.
He was charged with
giving a false name, driving
without a license a sus
pended drivers license and
expired registration.
The Kia was turned over
to the passenger.
