INCIDENT REPORTS . October 26 2022
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Man jailed after pregnant
woman kneed in stomach
A 26-year-old man at a Willis
Wilder Drive home went to jail
on Oct. 9 for battery after Cpl.
Kimberly Barnett and officer
Richard Maddox responded to a
domestic dispute. Dispatch ad
vised the man had put his hands
on the female caller, and they
could hear a males voice in the
background. The woman said the
man had kneed her in the stom
ach and that she was pregnant.
When the officers arrived at
the home, no one would answer
the door. On the other side of the
driveway there was a side door
open on a gray building. As Mad
dox started toward the residence,
a man in a white shirt closed the
door.
Barnett and Maddox knocked
on the door, but no one would
open the door at first. They could
hear a woman crying inside and
announced themselves again
while knocking loudly.
A woman answered the door,
crying and holding her stomach.
There was a red mark on the left
side of her head that extended
from her left eyebrow down
to her cheekbone. As Maddox
entered the home the officers saw
a small child sitting on a bed in
front of a broken television. They
asked the woman where the man
was, and she said only that he
left but she didn’t know where.
Barnett then took the woman
and child outside while Maddox
continued the search for the man.
The officer announced himself
several times and asked subject to
come out and talk. He could hear
footfalls and mumbled speech
coming from upstairs. Maddox
called out for the man to come
downstairs but got no reply.
When Barnett came back inside,
Maddox drew his weapon and
started towards the stairs and the
man then came down with his
hands up. Maddox ordered him
to the floor and handcuffed him.
Maddox found a loaded Sav
age Arms 12-gauge shotgun in
the upstairs bedroom on a shelf.
The man was taken to Maddox’s
vehicle where he was seated in
the rear.
The woman was treated by
EMS but refused transport to the
hospital. She told Maddox that
she and the baby were in the bed
room when an argument started
between her and the man. She
said she went into a storage room
of the bedroom to get away from
him and he came in and started
playing around. She told him to
leave her alone, but he continued.
Soon both of them were throw
ing items at one another. He then
walked into the bedroom and
struck the flat screen television
with a closed fist breaking the
screen. They continue to argue,
and the man told her to move all
her stuff into the storage room
and she told him she wanted the
$150 she had loaned him, and
then she would leave. He then left
the home to go across the street
to make a phone call,
The woman said when she saw
the man coming back, she went
outside to talk. An argument en
sued concerning the money and
he grabbed her and kneed her
in the stomach. She said the red
mark on the left side of her head
must have happened while they
were scuffling.
Angry son trips up
on way to jail
The son of a Weldon Road
woman was charged with ob
structing a 911 call and family
violence battery after an incident
on Oct. 10. Deputy Hannah Hile
was sent to the home where a
63-year-old mother said her son
became aggressive towards her
during an argument over a bed
mattress.
Her son was angry becaused
it was “his mattress” that he
“bought.” He was then arrested
and led to a patrol car by deputy
Posey. At the last step the man
tripped and sustained a head
injury. After his release from the
hospital, he was turned over to
the Monroe County jail staff.
Drunk driver concerned
about losing job
A Forsyth man driving a Jeep
was the subject of a BOLO after
several citizens called 911 report
ing he was failing to maintain
its lane and was coming close to
hitting other vehicles along Sut
ton Road and Hwy. 83 on Oct. 12.
A Forsyth Police officder spotted
the vehicle and deputy Enrique
Hogan responded and made a
stop on the Jeep on Juliette Road.
The driver pulled into the BP
station and Hogan could smell
alcohol as he approached. Hogan
had him step out and meet him at
the rear of his vehicle.
The drunk man nearly fell out
of his seat when he opened the
door and the deputy had to push
him back inside. When asked
about taking a sobriety test, the
man answered, “Just take me to
jail.” He also refused to consent to
a blood test. He was charged with
DUI-refusal and open container.
On the way to booking, the man
begged Hogan to take him home
because he was going to lose his
job at Georgia Power due to his
DUI charge.
Disgruntled golfer
gets loud on the course
A loud and obnoxious golfer
caused a disturbance at the City
Golf Course on Oct. 16. A staff
member met officer Arthur
Musselman and told him a man
became upset because other golf
ers were slow and would not let
him go ahead of their group. He
said when he told the man that
golfers did not have to stop and
let individuals go ahead of them,
the man became angry and ver
bally abusive. The man was told
he was through playing golf and
would need to leave. When he
wouldn’t leave, the staff member
called police.
The golfer told Musselman that
is a golf instructor for the city
and county and that one of the
things he teaches is golf etiquette,
and that golf etiquette states that
when a smaller group of golfers
is stuck behind a larger group of
golfers, the larger group should
stop and let the smaller group
play through.
The man said that the staff
member was rude and told him
to get out of his face. He said he
didn’t do anything wrong but that
he could not continue to play on
a course that didn’t follow golf
etiquette and whose employees
were rude. The disgruntled golfer
said he was going to cancel his
membership at the golf course
and play somewhere else.
Thief steals bottle
filled with change
A man on Blount Street told
officer Arthur Musselman he
suspected his girlfriend’s brother
broke into his home by cutting
a screen and entering through a
partially opened window. He said
after climbing inside between
9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 16
the thief stole a large clear water
bottle filled with around $200
in loose change. The bottle was
taken from the master bedroom.
Drunk driver says phone
use was cause of crash
A 33-year-old Macon man was
charged with multiple offenses
involving alcohol on Oct. 16 after
deputy Justyn Weaver was sent to
a hit-and-run crash that occurred
at the 1-75 and 1-475 found two
wrecked vehicles. While speaking
with the at-fault driver, Weaver
could smell alcohol on his person
and breath. The man immediately
admitted fault for the crash, said
he was having family-related
problems, and that being on his

cell phone was the reason for the
crash. The victim of the crash had
recorded all post-collision activity
until law enforcement’s arrival.
The video shows the drunk driver
behind the wheel looking directly
at the camera with his window
rolled completely down.
The deputy placed the man in
the passenger seat of his patrol
car where the man told him he
didn’t want any problems with
Monroe County. The man repeat
edly tried to speak over Weaver
and said that he had a couple
of shots of tequila at a grill-out.
He began to apologize and said
that he was on probation, and
that he has four children. He had
problems answering questions di
rectly as if he was having trouble
remembering. He stated several
times that he could already tell
that it was over, and he was going
to jail but agreed to take a road
side sobriety test anyway.
After showing 6 of the 6 pos
sible clues of impairment with the
eye test, failing the walk test after
removing his house slippers, and
giving a high positive reading for
alcohol on a breath test, a nearly
empty bottle of tequila was found
in his 2019 Toyota Corolla. He
was cited for hit-and-run, DUI,
failure to maintain lane, sus
pended registration, no insur
ance, driving without a license,
and open container. He was then
taken to the Monroe County
Detention Center.
