INCIDENT REPORTS . November 9, 2022
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Man jailed after woman seen
throwing bottle at truck
A 46-year-old Forsyth man was
taken to the Monroe County Jail
on Oct. 19 for battery and ob
struction after investigators saw a
woman throw a small bottle at his
truck. The man then drove away
on Indian Springs Drive cutting
off an unmarked county vehicle
while turning onto Vining Circle
at Langston Avenue.
Inv. Stephen Phipps stopped the
driver asked what was the issue
was at the house where hed just
left. The man clearly was agitated
and very hostile, stating “why
are y’all bothering me?” When
Phipps explained they saw a
woman throwing something at
his truck, he became even more
hostile.
When asked for his name and
date of birth, he mumbled his
name and when he was asked to
repeat it, he again got upset and
angry.
Phipps grabbed his left arm, but
the man stiffened and refused to
comply. Phipps told him not to
resist but he snatched away and
grabbed the bed of his truck,
holding on to it tightly.
Phipps then got behind him
and grabbing around the shoul
ders and neck to pull him away.
The man still refused to let go and
Phipps released him to reposition
himself and as he stepped back,
the man tried to take a swing
with a closed a fist at the investi
gator. He was immediately taken
to the ground and after several
strikes to his body and face, he
was finally overpowered and
cuffed.
The investigators then went
back to the Indian Springs Drive
home and spoke with the woman
who had been seen throwing
the bottle at the truck. She told
them the problem started at Shaw
Avenue where they were argu
ing about her wanting to go to a
party. She said the man became
upset and told her if she left that
he was going to put her stuff on
the porch. When she tried to
leave, he jumped in his truck and
blocked her in. She was later able
to move the truck, jumped into
her Tahoe and left the scene. She
said he then followed her to her
mother’s home on Indian Springs
Drive, pulled in behind her and
demanded the keys to the Tahoe,
saying it was his fathers vehicle
that was left to him.
He then grabbed her by the
neck and choked her, uttering
statements such as “don’t make
me hurt you,” while pushing her
against the vehicle.
She began screaming, which
caused her mother to come out to
see what was going on. He finally
snatched the keys out her hand
and jumped in his truck and left,
which is when we the investiga
tors saw her throw the bottle.
Pictures were taken of the
womans neck, and she and her
mother gave written statements.
The man was given a cell at the
Monroe County Jail.
Man arrested for
numerous false reports
A 46-year-old Loraine Woods
Drive man was charged with a
false report of a crime on Oct.
21 after reporting a suspicious
vehicle and person was inside his
home. The man also told 911 that
people were camping in his cul-
de-sac. His wife then called 911
and said that her husband was
hallucinating and that she was
afraid of him.
The wife told deputy Justyn
Weaver in the driveway her
husband has mental health-re
lated issues, is seeing things that
are not real and is getting worse.
Weaver found the man inside the
home and noticed he was super
vigilant and possibly under the
influence of alcohol. He repeated
to Weaver that there were people
camping outside.
The deputy took the man out
side and together they checked
the perimeter of the property.
They also walked the cul-de-sac
together and saw no signs of
crime anywhere. The man was
constantly checking the shadow
of a nearby light pole and several
times he stopped because he
thought he saw someone in the
woods. He told Weaver that he
will be buying a shotgun and
start discharging rounds instead
of calling law enforcement in the
future. Weaver advised him not
to recklessly discharge a firearm.
The deputy had EMS come
to the home to speak with the
man, but he refused transport.
He was arrested for reporting a
false crime and taken to Monroe
County Jail. Law enforcement
had been called to the mans
home three times in four days.
His wife asked questions about
getting him help in a mental
health facility.
Juvenile boys shoplift
vape products
Deputy Charles Bryson was
dispatched to the BP Station at
4988 High Falls Road on Oct.
21 after a call regarding four
young suspects shoplifting vape
cartridges and vape pens. Bryson
spoke with the clerk who stated
four male juveniles were in the
store for about 15 to 20 minutes
when one came to the counter
while the other three went to a
cabinet where the vape pens and
vape juice are located. She said
they opened the cabinet, grabbed
several of the vape items, and the-
four ran out of the store running
toward Boxankle Road.
Deputies Joshua Warren and
Justin Sanders arrived at the store
and soon located the suspects.
Warren recovered six vape juice
cartridges valued at $35 each and
one vape pen valued at $15.
The clerk confirmed those were
the items taken and the manager
said they wanted to prosecute.
A 17-year-old was arrested and
taken to the Monroe County Jail
where he was cited for shoplift
ing. The three other juveniles
were taken to the Monroe
County Sheriffs’ Office and their
parents were called to pick them
up. Juvenile complaints were
completed on the juveniles for
theft by shoplifting.
Driver stopped for traffic
infraction in jail for drugs
A 31 -year-old man faces drug
charges after he was stopped for
following too closely in a white
2021 Toyota Camry on 1-75 on
Oct. 22.
The stop was made on Benson
Ham Road at Hwy. 18 and the
deputies could smell marijuana.
The driver admitted that there
was some marijuana on the pas
senger side floorboard and said
he was smoking not long before
being stopped and placed it there.
Hogan found a small bag of
marijuana inside a peanut bag. A
glass meth pipe was also found.
Hogan also found a clear plastic
baggie containing a crystal-like
substance believed to be meth-
amphetamine on the driver.
The driver was cuffed and given
a seat in the back of a patrol car.
At the Monroe County Jail, he
was charged with DUI-drugs,
following to close, possession
of marijuana and possession of
methamphetamine. His girlfriend
was called to pick up his vehicle.
White Street
home burglarized
A White Street man stopped
Cpl. Kimberly Barnett outside
of Ace Hardware on Oct. 22
and told her his house had been
burglarized and he wasn’t sure
what to do. Barnett told him that
he needed to file a report so that
she could turn the case over to
an investigator. The man said
he left to go out of town on Oct.
17 around 6:30 a.m. and his son
called him on Oct. 19 and told
him that his TVs valued at $300
each were gone.
When the man arrived at his
home, he found that 2 PlayStation
3s (valued at $75 each), a Nin
tendo WII (valued at $50) and a
Amazon Firestick (valued at $40)
were also missing. He said he was
told by witnesses that a certain

had no proof. Barnett told him
she would turn the case over to
an investigator.
Runaway girl didn't want to
make her own lunch
Deputy Corbin Becelia was sent
to a Moore Road home on Oct.
22 after multiple reports of a juve
nile running away. A woman told
Becelia the girl was at her home
after running away. The girl had
told her she had not been fed.
Becelia had the girl come
outside and asked her what was
wrong. She told him she didn’t
want to return home and wanted
to go live with her boyfriend in
Macon. The deputy told her she
was a juvenile did not have the
right to rim off and do as she
pleased.
Becelia spoke with the girl’s
mother who said she constantly
runs off and she was angry this
time because she was told to
make her own lunch. She was
advised to try to keep a better eye
on her daughter and take away
her phone so she wouldn’t be able
to call anyone to pick her up to
run off again.
Man on Honda arrested
for fleeing
A 39-year-old man on a 2022
Honda CBR1000 fled deputy
Corbin Becelia on Oct. 22 and
was later assigned a cell in the
Monroe County Jail. Becelia
paced the red bike on 1-75 S just
before the 1-475 split doing 87
mph. Becelia stopped the bike
at mile marker 15 but the rider
increased his speed going in and
out of traffic ignoring both visual
and audible instructions to pull
over. After finally stopping, he
was arrested for felony fleeing
eluding near mile marker 12.

towed away after the driver was
