Driver tells deputy to give marijuana to his mom
A Forsyth man told Sgt. Thomas
Haskins to give marijuana he found in
his car to his mother during a traffic
stop on Oct. 14.
Haskins stoppedablack2017 Audi
after he ran the plates and learned the
owner had a suspended license, the car
was uninsured, and the registration was
suspended. The Forsyth driver, who
was riding with his mother, was arrest
ed on numerous charges. According to
the report, Haskins stopped the car as
it pulled into the Village Oaks Apart
ment Complex on Juliette Road and
could smell marijuana coming from the
vehicle. He radioed Cpl. Dalton Mosely
for backup.
The driver of the Audi, 27-year-old
Harry Lee Williams, was aggressive
and argumentative with Haskins who
waited until Mosely arrived before
asking him to step out of the car. When
asked if there was any marijuana in his
car, Williams replied there was some
in the center console. When Haskins
removed the weed, Williams told him,
“Hand that to my mom.” The sergeant
told him that marijuana was illegal, and
it would not be simply turned over to
another person.
Williams was handcuffed and put in a
patrol car. His mother showed Haskins
the insurance on the Audi and the car
was left in her possession. Her son was
charged with driving without a license,
suspended registration, and marijuana
possession.
