Rats! Woman with odd pet charged with drugs
By Will Davis
publisher™ mymcr.net
Monroe County Sgt.
Kevin Williams said that
Thursday was the first
time he’s had to take a pet
rat into custody, and he
hopes it’s the last.
“I didn’t touch it,”
sighed Williams, who’s
been a deputy for 10
years. “I’ve never been a
fan of rats, and never will
be.”
Williams didn’t know
what he was getting
into when he stopped
Shanna Faye Anderson,
30, of Madison, in a white
Dodge Ram for failing to

Forsyth lights up for Christmas
Thousands descended upon downtown Forsyth on a cold, Christmas-like Thursday night on Dec. 1 for the Forsyth-Monroe
County Chamber of Commerces annual Hometown Holidays parade. Nearly 60 floats, one of the biggest parades ever
in Forsyth, participated, coming up Hwy. 41, going around the courthouse square and down Tift College Drive. MCR 1,
the Reporters drone, captured this aerial view during the parade. See this years winners in the ad on page 6A and more
parade photos on page 8C. (Drone photo/Will Davis)

High Falls postal lady
saves mail from fire
A High Falls postal carrier escaped her burn
ing mail truck and even saved the undelivered
mail after her vehicle caught fire on her route
on Wednesday. Jennifer Pike was delivering
toward the end of her route in High Falls when
the truck apparently caught fire. She grabbed
the rest of her mail and jumped out of the mail
truck, which was soon totally involved. In a
time when the postal service is under fire for
slow or no delivery, it’s a reminder that there are
still some very dedicated carriers.

It’s here! New No She Didn’t’ book now available
Just in time for Christmas, the Re
porter’s highJy-anticipated new paper
back book, “No She Didn’t,” has arrived
and is now for sale for just $15.
The book is filled with 249 pages
of some of the funniest, craziest, and
sometimes saddest stories you’ll ever
read and they’re all 100% completely
and incredibly true. And they all hap
pened right here in Monroe County!
Some of the 23 chapter titles include
“The Naked Truth,” “Gone To Pot,”
“Hold My Officer, Mister Beer” and
“Who Let the Dogs Out?”
The stories range from a stubborn
exotic bull that was on a rampage
for three months, to a naked woman
romping at the Forsyth Inn, to a deputy
crashing his patrol car head-on into a
light pole in the Walmart parking lot.
And a whole lot more.
The stories are not only interesting
but also show what our police offi
cers and sheriff’s deputies must put
up with each week. For this reason,
some proceeds from this book will go
toward the Deputy Michael Norris
Memorial Scholarship fund that the
Reporter started in 2014. The schol
arship helps pay for the education of
Monroe County young people who
are interested in public service. So, if
you enjoy interesting police stories,
then this is the book for you. Pick one
up at the Reporter’s office for $ 15. It’s
a real page-turner that will make the
perfect Christmas gift. “No She Didn’t”
is also available at B. Monroe, Old Mill
Market, Forsyth Antiques and More
and the BP Station on Rumble Road.
Meanwhile, a generous benefactor is
paying for the Monroe County sher
iff’s office and Forsyth Police Depart
ment to have copies available for their
personnel.
