INCIDENT REPORTS . December 14, 2022
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Drunk driver found passed
out at Rumble Road BP
Dispatch released a BOLO on a
U-Haul truck traveling north on
1-75 near Rumble Road advising
the male driver appeared to be
falling asleep at the wheel on
Dec. 3. Deputy Joshua Warren
found the truck parked next to
a gas pump at the Rumble Road
BP with the 47-year-old Jones
boro driver slumped down in the
drivers seat.
The drivers door was locked
but Warren was able to open
the passenger side door and
remove the keys to the ignition.
He could smell alcohol. He then
went around to the drivers door
and unlocked it and woke the
man who when realizing he was
looking at a deputy, immediately
jumped up.
Warren asked if he had con
sumed any alcoholic beverage,
to which he replied he had about
2 hours earlier and agreed to a
sobriety test. He was unable to
remain in the starting position
during the instruction phase and
lost his balance several times.
During the one-leg stand, he
could only raise his left foot and
count to five seconds before
putting it back down. He stopped
the test after he had trouble lifting
his right foot.
He was taken into custody and
handcuffed behind his back. Two
open bottles of vodka were found
directly next to the drivers seat.
He was charged with DUI and an
open container.
Wanted Florida woman
caught with drugs
A woman wanted out of Florida
went to jail in Monroe County
for possession of marijuana and
other charges on Dec. 4. Officer
Richard Maddox learned the
woman was wanted after running
the tags on her tan Toyota Camry
as it traveled east on Tiff College
Drive. After the blue lights were
activated, the Toyota pulled into
the parking lot of Langford Aller
gy Center. The woman told Mad
dox she knew about the warrant,
and was in the process of paying
the rest of the restitution so the
warrant would be dropped.
While Maddox was talking to
the driver, he could smell mari
juana coming from the vehicle.
When asked if there was any
marijuana in the car the woman
told Maddox she didn’t think so.
When he asked her to step out
of the Toyota, she said that there
may be a joint in the ashtray.
Maddox found a pipe, 2 joints
and 6 white pills. The pills were
identified by their markings as 5
Flexarils and 1 Zanaflex.
He also found a white and
black fanny pack attached to the
passenger side seat with a clear
plastic bag containing a small
amount of marijuana and a blue
plastic bag also containing a
small amount of marijuana. The
woman was arrested and placed
in the rear of the patrol car.
Dispatch advised she was wanted
out of two different jurisdictions
in Florida, but neither would
extradite. The Toyota was turned
over to a licensed driver and the
woman was jailed.
A warrant was taken against her
for drugs not in original contain
er and she was cited for posses
sion of marijuana.
Woman passed out in Days
Inn parking lot
A woman was found passed out
in a gold Kia on Dec. 6 around
5:38 p.m. by officer Jeffrey Burris
who could smell alcohol coming
from the car even with the win
dows up and doors closed. The
car was parked about 10 feet from
a parking spot in the middle of
the parking lot of the Days Inn on
North Lee Street with the reverse
lights on.
Burris woke the woman who
appeared to be highly intoxicated.
He asked if she had been drink
ing and she answered in a slurred
speech that she had a few. Burris
asked for her license and for her
to step out of the Kia.
She was very unstable and
appeared to be needing medical
assistance. EMS checked her vital
signs and took her to the Mon
roe County Hospital where she
received a copy of her citations.
The Kia was impounded for no
insurance and an altered tag.
Two charged with possession
of methamphetamine
Inv. Shania Hawkins along with
other deputies went to a home
on Hwy. 42 S on an investigation
on Dec. 8 and saw a man and
woman, both of Forsyth, on the
property with bookbags on their
backs. Hawkins summoned them
to her and asked why they were
there, and the woman replied
they were looking for a broom
stick. Hawkins then informed
them they were trespassing.
The subjects appeared extreme
ly nervous and not making eye
contact with the investigator.
When asked, they told her they
“did not have anything,” but
Hawkins found a small baggie
of suspected methamphetamine
in the womans bookbag. In the
mans bag, a small clear container
with a pink lid that had “love”
printed on the top held shards of
suspected methamphetamine.
The woman at first said the bag
on her back did not belong to
her. She then looked at the man
and told him he’d better tell the
deputies that the drugs belonged
to him. After asking the man
what was in the container, he
stated it was not his. He said that
Hawkins, “did not find that in his
bag” and that she was trying to
set him up.
The pair was then handcuffed
and taken to the Monroe County
Jail by Inv. Stephen Phipps. The
man said that he would take
responsibility for the contents in
the woman’s bookbag. Both were
charged with possession.
After meeting the man's
wife, woman wants him to
go away
A female guest at the Rodeway
Inn complained to officer Jeffrey
Burris on Dec. 9 that a coworker
that she had been dating was
making harassing phone calls.
She said she found out he was
married and decided to stop
seeing him but invited him back
several times. She added that she
had met his wife and now wants
nothing more to do with him.
She said she wanted a document
ed paper trail just in case any
thing happens in the future and a
report was made.

Pit bull owner cited for
neglect
The owner of an aggressive pit
bull was cited for animal cruel
ty (neglect) and for not having
documentation of rabies vaccina
tion on Dec. 10 by officer Arthur
Musselman. The officer was
called by Monroe County Animal
Control about the dog being kept
in a cage that was too small and
without appropriate shelter from
the elements. The same dog had
been picked up from the home
on Powell Street by MCAC. The
owner was cited then and had
been told not to place the dog
in the same conditions when he
picked the animal up.
The owner wasn’t present when
Musselman arrived, and a notice
was left on the gate by an animal
control officer who took the dog
back to the shelter. The dog own
er received new citations.
Couple on Blount Street go
to jail for fighting
Officer Jeffrey Burris responded
to a civil disturbance on Blount
Street just after midnight on
Dec. 10 when a man reported a
woman had poured out his car
cleaning products and cut the
speaker wires to his home stereo.
The couple was fighting when
Burris arrived, and he had to
separate them. Officer Dexter
McCune learned they both had a
bond condition from a previous
incident, and they were arrested
for disorderly conduct and cited.
They were turned over to de
tention deputies at the Monroe
County Jail.
