A new operations
director began
working at the For
syth-Monroe County
Chamber of Com
merce on November
30, a hectic day
just before the big
Hometown Holi
days Parade. Melissa
Lee, who has been
the president of the
Barnesville-Lamar
County Chamber of
Commerce off and
on for ten years, has
now joined forces
with Rebecca Stone,
president/CEO of the local
chamber after being in
Barnesville for 27 years and
her first week has been a
busy one.
Married to Lamar Lee,
who is a realtor and owns
a water business, she is the
mother of six children,
three of them triplets,
Clarissa, Kevin, and
Kristin, who were born 15
weeks premature weigh
ing around one pound
each. She said they were
given only a 17% chance
of survival, but she was up
to the challenge, and they
turned 30 last July. The
couples other children are
Justin, 32, Douglas, 25, and
Robert, 21. They have one
granddaughter, Elaina. Me
lissa originated in Clayton
County where she went to
Clayton State University
in Morrow and studied
business.
Even though she is only
one county away Melissa
said she sometimes feels
Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of
tor Melissa Lee
like she’s in a foreign coun
try. She lives in Barnes
ville and knows all about
Barnesville, but in Forsyth,
she doesn’t know street
names or city officials’
names. Everyone she meets
is new. Even so, she fits
right into her position as
operations director with 20
years of experience in ac
counting and bookkeeping.
She said Rebecca has the
Forsyth chamber running
like a well-oiled machine.
The board is engaged. The
community is engaged and
the involvement that it has
with Rebecca is astonishing
to her. She said she was
amazed when she saw the
president of one of our lo
cal banks helping clean up
after the Christmas parade.
In Lamar County, it was
just her and she had to rim
everything.

Stone said she is pleased
to be working with Melissa.
“I am beyond thrilled to
have Mrs. Lee on our team
at the Forsyth-Monroe
Chamber of Commerce!
Her professionalism,
experience, and winning
personality will be a very
valuable asset to our
growing Community. I
look forward to many years
of servicing our members
together with Melissa.”
Once again, Melissa Lee
is up to the challenge.
