Courthouse’s Kilgore an Everyday Hero
By Steve Reece

There are many
services available at
the Monroe County
Probate Court includ
ing finding birth and
death certificates and
obtaining marriage
and firearm licenses
and fireworks permits.
Even though Gov.
Kemp signed a bill al
lowing the carrying of
a concealed handgun
in public without a
permit back in April,
deputy court clerk
Paula Kilgore said that
a lot of people still
get permits and it is
a good idea to own one
especially if you’re traveling
to a different state.
The Probate Court also
handles estate and guard
ianship, and conservator-
ship matters as well as is
sues involving involuntary
intervention for mental
illness and substance abuse.
You can
also
contact
Probate
Court for

criminal
cases.
On what
is known as “Court Day”
you can find the office
packed with people trying
to make things straight
with the County. And some
of those paying fines aren’t
in the best of moods. Paula
says those are her most
stressful days. She says the
best part of her job is her
coworkers.
Paula has been serving
Monroe County as a depu
ty court clerk for four years.
Born and raised in Macon,
she came to our county
23 years ago. Her first job
was working part-time at a
Macon Burger King at the
age of sixteen and besides
learning fast food wasn’t for

accounting classes after
graduating high school.
She then secured a
position in the accounting
department of Ricoh, Inc.
working there for 18 years
before moving on to GE
Capital for a decade and
then becoming
a deputy court
clerk with no
plans to retire.
She likes to
work in her

avid reader
who is never
without a book. She is
currently into reading his

American author Diana J.
Gabaldon and owns all her
thick books in hardback.
She is married to Keith
Kilgore who commutes
1-1/2 hours each way to his
job in Atlanta.
Paula had this to say to
young people just starting
out in Monroe County,
“Regardless of which path
you choose, number one,

and always, always be on
time.” Well-spoken advice

Partners with MedPro EMS
Thomaston, GA
January 23,2023 -
Upson Regional
Medical Center is
pleased to announce a
new partnership with
MedPro EMS to
provide both routine
and emergent patient
transports.
When a patient
requires services that
Upson Regional

not offer, the need for
transport can be time
sensitive. The timeli
ness of these transfers
is of the utmost
importance to reduce
the potential for risks
or complications for
the patient.
“I am excited to
begin this new
relationship with
MedPro EMS, as it
will greatly enhance
our ability to effec
tively, quickly, and
safely move patients
from our facility to
other hospitals when
necessary.” Jeff
Tarrant, Upson
Regional Medical
Center CEO com
mented. “Our
MedPro EMS
resource will be
available for both
routine interfacility
patient transports, as
well as emergent
patient transports.
They will be stationed
at Upson Regional,
providing one ambu
lance with multiple
teams working in
rotation to partner
with us in meeting
our patients’ needs.”
In order to assist
with the needed
patient transports, and
ensure that patients
receive the services
that are vital to their
health and wellbeing,
Upson Regional
Medical Center has
welcomed the staff of
MedPro EMS. The
new partnership
provides 24 hours per
day, 7 days per week
EMS patient transport
coverage that is 100
percent dedicated to
serving the needs of
Upson Regional
Medical Center’s
patients. The service is
completely based
directly in Thomaston.
Eric Wilson,
President/CEO of
MedPro EMS added,
“Our MedPro EMS
team values the strong
relationship we have
built with Upson
Regional Medical
Center over the past
few years, and is
excited about the
opportunity to work
even closer with them
to serve the transport
needs for their patients
365 days a year.”
During MedPro’s
initial week at Upson
Regional Medical
Center, 24 total
transports have been
completed. Three
emergent transports
were carried out
