Everyday Hero Rusty Brewer
keeps Forsyth making copies
By Steve Reece
steve.reece@gmail.com
The first-ever text to be
copied on a copier machine
was “10-22-38 Astoria.”
This one line denoted the
date the copy was made
followed by the name of
Chester Carlson’s
apartment block.
Carlson was the
man who invent
ed the machine
in his New York
City apartment in
1938.
Photocopiers have evolved
tremendously since then.
When Rusty Brewer, ac
count executive at Superior
Document Solutions, started
his career in the industry in
1997, the machines weren’t
yet connected to computers.
Over the years he has had
to keep up with the ev
er-changing technology.
Rusty was born at the Col
iseum Hospital in Macon
53 years ago to Buddy and
Virginia Brewer who later
became Virginia Lundy
after she married Russell
Lundy. Rusty was raised by
Russell and considers him to
be his father.
Rusty received his educa
tion in Macon
graduating from
Central High
School in 1987.
Immediately af
ter graduating, he
got his first job
helping convert
the old TG & Y building
on Gray Hwy. into the first
Walmart in the Macon area.
Walmart was so impressed
with his work they hired
him as a department man
ager over four departments
making $4.70 an hour.
After a couple of years, he
moved on to a better posi
tion working at Table Supply
and then at Food Max
Rusty Brewer
before beginning his current
job 26 years ago. His current
company services over
10,500 copier machines in
the Atlanta/Middle Georgia
area. The best thing about
his job is that his clients are
always happy to see him.
Rusty is all about customer
service. He said all copier
machines are pretty much
the same; it’s how you treat
your customers that makes
the difference. He said he
has no plans to retire. He’s
having too much fun.
He lives with his ex-wife
Gina Branson on Rumble
Road where he loves to do
gardening and carpenter
projects around the house.
On weekends, if he’s not
fishing, you can find him
cooking up something on
the grill.
When asked his advice
to Monroe County’s young
folks, Rusty replied, “I would
tell them a college education
is a great thing OK but even
if you don’t go to college
get a high school diploma.
Just work hard and you can
accomplish anything in life.”

Cousins fight after running out of gas
By Steve Reece
steve.reece@gmail.com
Two female cousins got into a scuf
fle after one of them ran out of gas on
Johnstonville Road on March 1 and
both wound up in
the Monroe County
Jail.
According to the
incident report,
deputy Enrique Ho
gan and Cpl. Tyler
Rodgers were dis
patched to a home DEWBERRY
near Boxankle Road
and found Alisha
Dewberry, 26, sitting in a blue 2008
Saturn Vue. She told them she had
run out of gas and called her father.
Her father then called her cousin,
Cheyanne Paige Peek, 24, and told
her to “whoop her a**.”
She said Peek showed up, drug
her out of her car, threw her on the
ground, and started
hitting her. Dewber
ry had fresh scratch
es around her elbows
and said she wanted
to press charges
against her cousin.
Rodgers spoke
with Peek at her
vehicle who told him
a friend called and
said they saw Dewberry’s car broken
down. She said when she went there,
she found that Dewberry ran out of
gas again, and did not want to leave
her parked in the road. Peek said
Dewberry just got over $100 from her
mother and still ran out of gas.
She said Dewberry punched her
twice through the window, then she
started fighting back. She played an
audio recording for the deputies and
both subjects could be heard argu
ing with each other and then what
sounded like a struggle. Peek was
heard accusing Dewberry of hitting
her. She had fresh scratches on her
right knee and left elbow.
Both Peek and Dewberry were
taken to jail and charged with disor
derly conduct. Both women refused
medical treatment.
