The Monroe County
Sheriff s Office is investi
gating an armed robbery at
the County Line Store on
Thomaston Road which
occurred last Sunday night,
March 26. According to
the report, store owner Jeel
Patel told deputy Enrique
Hogan that around 9:15
p.m. they had just closed
the store, and he was emp
tying the trash can near the
gas pumps. While he was
changing the trash bags, a
black man in his early 20s,
driving a burgundy SUV,
possibly a Buick Enclave,
pulled into the parking lot,
got out, and asked if the
store was closed. When
Patel told him it was, the
man asked if he would re
open so he could buy some
cigarettes.
Patel refused to re-open
the business because he
was suspicious of the man
wearing dark clothing, a
black balaclava mask cov
ering a portion of his face
and a dark hood outer jack
et. The man then pulled a
gun, pushed him down and
robbed him of his wallet
which contained $900 in
cash, an iPhone and a gold
necklace. A witness, Ashvin
Patel, approached during
the robbery and the robber
fired off a shot above his
head. Ashvin quickly re
treated to a safer location.
Jeel Patel was treated at
the scene for minor scrapes
on his knees. The incident
was captured on the stores
surveillance cameras and
turned over to Sgt. Kemeya
Colvard. A single, small
caliber brass casing was
found near the gas pumps.
If anyone has information
about this incident, they
are asked to call Sergeant
Kemeyan Colvard at
478-957-5233 or local law
enforcement.

Monroe County Inv.
Chris Landers said Floyds

called authorities.
Landers said that Maul

for repairs and then divert
ing the money into his per

Landers said Mauldin was
willing to talk at first, but
when he realized he would
be charged said he needed
to talk to a lawyer. Landers
said Mauldin was doing
things to hide his theft but
that after they figured out
what he was doing, the
crime wasn’t super hard to
prove.
