Spotlight on Local Churches
PASTOR’S CORNER by Rev. Angela Johnson
Jesus included
action with His love
What would Jesus do?
n this Passover season, I have ex
perienced several things, including
the loss of a neighbor and seeing a
community that knew him grieve his
death.
However, his widow is still in need of
support. I'm not saying
that we as a communi
ty have not helped. But
getting long-term support
ive help for her has been
disappointing at best.
They chose to live a
humble life, and many
things were left undone.
In this journey with her,
I have found that the
Georgia system for helping
seniors is lacking at best.
She has no family here and needs not be
alone. However, she will not leave their
humble abode in her grieving process.
Much help is needed, and we, as close
neighbors, have done as much as we know
how to do or have resources to do.
The events this season made me think
of the question Pilate asked the crowd in
Matthew 27: “22 Pilate said to them, then
what shall I do with Jesus Who is called
Christ?"
I say this because God is the defender of
the widow; leaving this widow without the
help and support she needs seems tragic to
me at best.
Jesus on the cross gave an assignment
for his mothers care. I pray
for us as a community, State,
and country that we can help
to care for this widow in this
season as we celebrate the Life,
Death, Resurrection, and As
cension of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
Let’s be the Love of Christ
with Skin on it.

Corner is sponsored by the Monroe County
Ministerial Association. The Ministerial
Association meets on the 4th Thursdays each
month at 9:30 a.m. at Christ UMC, 417 N.
Frontage Road, Forsyth.

the school's Access Depart
ment needed a frame to

purchased. The students
went to work to meet the
need.
Project Manager Mak
enzie Hicks designed an
A-frame that would be
structurally sound yet easily
collapsible, which would
allow it to be moved as
necessary. She and team
mates Jaylan Barkley and
Avery Tallent decided on a
reinforced saddle joint to
accommodate the “toolless”
disassembly requirement.
Their finished product allows a team of
three people to easily disassemble, trans
port and reassemble the frame wherever

after the ribbon cutting for Accomodates Care Homes.
Residents will dine togeth
er, with three hot meals and
two snacks daily. Laundry
services, oversight of medi
cation, educational activities,
outings and home security
will be provided. Wilder said
she is excited to learn more
about Forsyth so that she will
have more ideas for outings
to offer residents. She said she
also wants to give back to the
community.
She has plans to add swings
and other outdoor furniture so that res
idents can enjoy the yard and neighbor
hood, including children playing outside
nearby. The item that remains on the
Vision Board she started two years ago is
to begin Accomodates own program to
train medical staff.

Forsyth approves Phase 2
of Juliette Crossing
By Diane Glidewell
news@mymcr.net
The Forsyth City Council approved the
final plat for Phase 2 of the Juliette Cross
ing subdivision at its April 3 meeting.
Forsyth economic development director
Cody Ellis told council the Forsyth Plan
ning & Zoning Commission recommend
ed approval to the plat after reviewing it.
Planning & Zoning members had want
ed assurance that the developer would
put sidewalks on both sides of the street
in Phase 2, but Ellis said sidewalks are not
needed for final plat approval. However,
Ellis said that sidewalks are required by
Forsyths zoning ordinances, and the de
veloper will have to include them before
Phase 2 is completed.
In Phase 1 the developer only put side
walks on one side of the streets in parts
of the subdivision until residents com
plained to council. There are about 66 lots
in Phase 2. It is off of N. Frontage Road,
north of Juliette Road. The developer is
Hughston Homes Builders.
