ROBBERS
INCIDENT REPORTS . April 26, 2023
The following incidents were reported by the Forsyth Police Department
and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.
Pickup driver with no insur
ance has court date
A silver Ford F-150 was found
to have a suspended registration
and no insurance after officer
Richard Maddox ran its tags on
Chambers Street at Jackson Street
on April 12. The pickup parked
in front of the Lucky Food Mart
when Maddox made the stop.
When the driver was asked for
his license, he shuffled through a
large stack of cards and could not
find them.
He told Maddox he should have
insurance but didn’t have proof.
After the officer called State Farm
Insurance, he learned the policy
had been canceled. The driver
was cited and released to appear
in court.
Macon driver caught with
crack and a pistol in his pants
A silver 2014 Hyundai Elantra
with an obscured tag and
burned-out tag light caught the
attention of deputies John Bog
dan and Joshua Warren as they
were patrolling 1-75 S near the
weigh station on April 12. After
running the tag, the deputies
learned that the owner of the
vehicle had a suspended license
and the 30-year-old male driver
from Macon wound up in jail on
drug and other charges.
Bogdan approached the Hyun
dai that had a female passenger
and the driver passed him his
license. When asked where they
were coming from the man said
it was his passengers birthday.
He was again asked where they
were coming from, and the driver
reached to the back seat to look
at to-go boxes for the name of a
restaurant.
While Bogdan went to the
patrol car to rim the drivers
information Warren stepped up
to the passenger window to speak
with the occupants and was able
to smell marijuana over the cig
arette smoke. He also noticed an
open bottle of Patron Tequila on
the passenger floorboard. Warren
had the driver step out and asked
about marijuana and the open
container and the driver admitted
that he had pot in the car.
A .40 caliber Smith and Wesson
was found in the mans waistband
during the pat down. In his right
front pants pocket Warren found
a baggie with multiple pieces of
different-sized suspected crack
cocaine. The driver was imme
diately handcuffed and placed in
the backseat of the patrol vehicle.
He was taken to jail and cited
for a tinted tag cover and open
container. Warrants were taken
against him for cocaine posses
sion and possession of a firearm
during the commission of a
felony.
Shoplifter caught at Circle K
A Circle K employee flagged
down officer Colt Taylor while he
was at the store on H.G. Clarke
Parkway on April 13 and told
him a woman was inside the
store shoplifting. The woman
said the shoplifter had been at
the store previously and taken
items out hidden in her purse
without paying for them. She said
a customer had just told her she
had seen the woman put a candy
bar in her purse.
Taylor confronted the woman
who told him the items in her
purse were in there when she
entered the store. She said she
had some candy that Circle K
didn’t sell. A Hershey’s Bar which
is sold in the store was found in
the woman’s purse.
When Taylor asked her if
security cameras would show her
shoplifting the day before, she at
first said she hadn’t been in the
store but later admitted she was
there the night before. Security
footage showed the woman at
the Red Bull cooler grabbing
something and putting it into her
purse. She was also seen stealing
the candy bar. The total stolen
merchandise came to $8.
The store employee said the
store wanted to charge the wom
an and have her trespassed from
the property. The woman signed
the shoplifting citation and tres
pass notice.
Two men found in aban
doned home charged with
arson and burglary
Two Forsyth men, one of them
17, were turned over to jail staff
after deputies Thomas Haskins
and Jackson were dispatched to
an abandoned home on Old In
dian Springs Drive after a report
of a burglary in progress on April
14. There have been incidents
of burglary, arson and property
damage to the residence over the
past several weeks and the depu
ties found two men inside.
The men admitted they didn’t
have permission to be on the
property and said they were just
“hanging out”. They also said
they had been at the residence
several times before and had
recently set a mattress on fire.
Both men said they knew they
were not supposed to be at the
home and that they were tres
passing during an interview with
Inv. Alhstrom. The men were
turned over to jail personnel and
warrants were taken for burglary
(3 charges), arson, property dam
age, and possession of tobacco by
minors.
Buford man suspected of try
ing to smuggle contraband
into prison
A man on a 2002 Honda CF4
was suspected of delivering
contraband to a prison after being
caught with bundles of cell phones
and cigarettes on April 14. Cpl.
Larry Sullivan spotted the 39-year-
old Buford man on a motorcycle
with a partially obscured tag and
made a stop on 1-75 S near North
Lee Street.
When Sullivan asked the rider
where he was headed, he said he
was traveling to Jesup to visit his
friend in prison. After running his
license, the corporal learned the
man had a warrant out of Gwin
nett County for theft by taking
and he didn’t have a motorcycle
license. Sullivan had the man step
off the Honda, remove his heavy
jacket and backpack, and put him
in handcuffs. Sullivan then re
moved cigarettes and medication
from his pockets.
The license plate on the bike and
the VIN number didn’t match.
The correct tag number showed
that the motorcycle had suspend
ed registration and no insurance.
Gwinnett County confirmed the
warrant and said they wished to
extradite.
Inside the man’s backpack were 5
bundles that were wrapped heavily
in camouflage duct tape. When
asked what was in the packages
the man stated it was only cell
phones and cigarettes, no drugs.
When asked if he was taking the
items to the prison in Jesup, the
man answered he was taking them
to someone else and did not know
what would be done with the
items from there.
Sullivan opened one bundle and
observed cell phones and ciga
rettes. There was a total of 11 cell
phones, 20 packs of cigarettes, and
14 phone chargers and charger
ports inside all the bundles. Mid-
GA Wrecker Service was called
to tow the vehicle and the suspect
was taken to the Monroe County
Jail. During the jail search, a small
plastic gum container was found
inside the man’s pants pocket
with a clear crystal-like substance
inside. The man said it was salt.
When told that it looked like
methamphetamine, the man ad
mitted, “It is. I’m ready to go back
to prison anyway.
Ex-boyfriend doesn't care
that woman was bitten by a
large dog
A 100 lb. mixed breed Cane
Corso and Rottweiler dog bit
a 44-year-old Jackson woman
on April 14. Deputy William
Jackson answered the call at a
Ham Road home around 9:43
p.m. where a woman told him
her daughter had been bitten on
her right arm by the dog around
6 p.m. She said she had taken her
to the hospital for treatment.
Her daughter was resting from
the three puncture wounds while
Jackson spoke with her. She told
him the dog belonged to her as
well as her ex-boyfriend. She then
showed the deputy text messages
asking her ex to come pick up the
dog after she was bitten and he
answered, “Oh, well. It is what is
it is and f*** you too.”
Monroe County Animal Con
trol officer Carlos Santillan was
advised of the incident.
The following arrests were reported by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office and Forsyth
Police Department, An arrest means someone has been charged with a crime, but the
law considers them innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
