MONROE COUNTY ACHIEVEMENT CENTER
Monroe County Achievement Center has 33 graduates in the Class of 2023 (not all of them are pictured here). The Achievement Center is part of Monroe County Schools, and gradu
ates are graduates of Mary Persons and receive their diplomas at the Mary Persons graduation. However, the Achievement Center has its own administrators and guidelines. Although
a minority of its students are assigned to the school for disciplinary reasons, the majority choose to attend because it better fits their style of learning or their personal needs at this
point in their life. Many come to the Achievement Center because they have fallen behind in earning credits toward graduation and can more easily catch up with their class in this
setting. It is not uncommon for students who come to the Achievement Center for a short time to ask to remain. The alternative learning path that the Achievement Center provides is a
major contributing factor to Monroe County Schools successful graduation rate. Sarah Alford is principal of Monroe County Achievement Center.
