The Tuesday evening dance at Isle of Hope proved a great attraction to the pleasure seekers. Among the numbers who attended it was a party chaperoned by Mrs Guy Howard and Miss Carmichael, In which were Miss Mary Kline, Miss Clifford Munnerlyn, M ss Righton Haber sham. Mr. Berrien Giover, Mr Montague Boyd, and Mr. Epping Gabbett. Mr and Mrs. John Schley Haines have sent out cards to the marriage of their daughter Mary Walker to Mr. Hubert Batiersby Duckworth. This wedding, which will take place at neon Wednesday, Aug 1 In St. John's Church, will be the most interesting social event of next week. Mrs. W. R. Leaken has returned from a visit to her sister Mrs. Charles Huston In Coatesville, Fa. Miss Emily Charlton left In the first pari of the week for the mountains of upper Georgia. One of the largest crowds of the season went down to the Thursday dance at Ho tel Tybee, attracted in great measure by the childrens cakewalk promised for thet evening. Those who liad witnessed the performance of the week before knew It was well worth a repetition, and those who had not seen it were glad of this new opportunity. Mrs. Ltppman had generous ly planned the second entertainment for the benefit of the Fresh Air Home, and It was even more of a success than the first, the little dancers, who gave their services so readily, outrivalllng their for mer efforts. The cakewalk w as led by Mr. George Johnson in the following order; First couple. Masters Melvin and David Roos; second couple, Masters Frank Fin ney and Charles Seeman; third couple, Miss Fowler and Master William Reilly; fourth couple. Miss Constonce Holt of Amerieus and Mr. George Johnson; and last of all, alone, a captivating little figure. Master Charles Graham Boughan The judges of the evening. Maj. Hill of ■Mobile and Mr. 8. A. Einstein, awarded the cake by a popular vote to Masters Finney and Seeman, and a special cake to Master Graham Boghn. The dancing of Miss Ccnstance Holt Of Amerieus, who entered the contest late In the evening and quite unexpected ly, was noticeably graceful and charming. Moat substantial results were realized for the Home and the ladles In charge are. deeply grateful, appreciating the kind thoughtfulness which planned the enter tainment and the patient effort which car ried to such a successful end. Among the dancers on the pavilion, Mrs. Kdmonaton chaperoned Miss Pritchard, Miss Georgia Edmonston, Mr. William Simpson and Mr. Horace Hunter. Robb White in Char lottesville, Va., has gone North, taking Master Warren White with him. They will visit the Northern cities and then go to Connecticut for the summer. Mr. end Mrs. P. A. Waring have gone to Blip Ridge Summit for the rest of the season. Mrs. G. H. Rermdiart and the Misses Alice and Marie Remshart, who have been entertaining a delightful house party at White Bluff, spent Thursday evening at Tybee, taking supper at the Hotel and af terward enjoyed the dancing on the pa vilion. Their guests were Miss Ashley, Miss Gretta Holmes, Miss Flora Dancy, Miss Gadsden, Mr. M. B. Pilcher, Jr., Mr. P. R. Cheatham, Mr. F. A. Hoyt, Mr. J. F. Sears and Mr. William Remshart. Mrs. C. A. L. Cunningham is at Mont gomery, where she will spend several weeks. Maj. Francis L. Hills of Mobile is a guest of Hotel Tybee. Maj. Hills, who has seen service in Manila, was formerly director of public works in PortQ Rico. Mr. and Mrs. Houston Johnston have moved from Bay St. Louis to Birmingham. This is pleaaont news to their many friends here, as it brings them nearer Sa vannah. Miss Alice West has returned from a visit to her aunt, Mrs. Langdon Cheve-s, in Charleston. Mrs. Ralston Wylly went to Isle of Hope Tuesday to visit Miss Nona Wylly. Mrs. Joseph Ferst and Mr. S. A. Ein stein chaperoned a number of young peo ple who were invited to visit the U. S. S. Blake Wednesday afternoon. Those in the party were Miss Hannah Einstein, Miss Ruth Einstein, Miss Hannah Ferst, Miss Hazel Hirsch, Miss Eunice Lippman, and Miss Gladys Lippman. Mr. and Mrs. James K. Clark arrived Wednesday from Darien to make a short stay in the city. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Posted returned Fri day from Blowing Rock. Mr. Alan Bond left Tuesday for New York. Mr. Bond will go to Narragansett Pier and other Northern resorts for a few weeks, and will probably sail later for Europe to join his sisters, Miss Edith Bond and Miss Carrie Bond, who are now traveling on the continent.
