Darien, Oa., Sept. 11.—The political sit uation In Mclntosh county has arrived at that point In list Intensity usually termed the boiling point. The four most warmly contested races are those for clerk of the Superior Court, ordinary, representative and senator. The Democrats have nom inated Mr. William H. Atwood for repre sentative. and Col. David A. Smiley for senator. There have been no other Demoertlc nomination* for other office*, but the ne groes of this county have endorsed a can didate for each office. Then Is no oppo sltion to any of the negroes' endorsees except for cl< rk of the Superior Court and ordinary. The negroes Indorsed Mr. J A llritt for ordinary, and he la oppos ed by Col. The Republican* have nominated a candi date for each of these laysitlon* and are making a strong campaign among the ne groes A point has already been made that the election will l>c void In this county, be cause the tax collector has failed to be at hi* office the required number of day* be fore the election, and has not observed the hours present**! by law for keeping the registration looks open each day.
