London, the supply of sterling exchange
tn New York being large enough. It la
believed, to allow such an operation Thl*
possibility wa* a depressing factor In the
London stock markel. as Berlin would not
expected to be so lenient a creditor a*
Am* tit a ha* been, owing to the high
money rie In Berlin From any stand-'
point Amerirs holng the creditor In the
operation would exerclee large control of
the situation. The possible line In which
relief would be sought I* Indicated by last
week’s resale of the cerllflciKc* for Berlin
exchequer bonds to Itondon. which was

ere sod which helped to frustrate the plan
of the underwriting syndicate to ehlp gold
