Prleea Xet 4 to in Point* 01,
Near York. Oct. 13—The cotton market
opened easy wtth prices unchanged to 6
potnta lower and was unusually Irregular
all the short session as a result of alter
nate waves of buying and aelling of a
week-end settlement nature. Th early de
cline was a bare response to weak Liver
pool cables and a heavier crop movement
titan originally estimated. On the down
• urn nervous shorts hurriedly turned for
profits and toon after th call there was
a marked change for ih# better In feel
ing. due mainly to this support. A bull
ish review of the week s development* I
South by the Chronicle, and a govern
ment chart showing continued rains east
of the Mississippi valley were factors
which the bears were loath to overlook
-onslderlng that prices were down nearly
73 points from top and that the long In
terest-had been greatly reduced. Light in
vestment buying for the account of Wall
street parties became something of a fea
ture as the session progressed Specu
lation was not of a vigorous character at
any lime In the forenoon.
The market closed weak, with prices net
4 to 10 points lower.
