There were visi ble symptoms, marked by his friends hut unheeded by himself, of his recent extreme HI health. At Vallamhrosg Mr. Faw cett had large Interests and there he spent much of his time. On the plantation he contracted malniia, and H Is inferred, though definite Information oii the subject is lacking, that this dlseaaa was the prox imate cause of his death. Thursday morning Mr. Fawcett left the city for his plantation, expecting to return the next afternoon. Although he was not in good health, three was no indication, either In his appearance or In what he had to say of hi# sensation*, of anything that could have caused anxiety to his family. At any rate there was no rea son to believe that hla demise waa near or even approaching Yesterday afternoon Mr. D. J. Morrison, a friend of Mr. Fawcett, accompanied by the latter’s 16-year-old son. John, started for the plantation. Mr. Morrison was on a visit of lnfet tlon and the lad acted as his gukle. on their way they met an ex cited negro messenger, w’ho told them he was on the way to the city to procure a physician, as Mr Fawcett had been at tacked with convulsion# during the eafly afternoon and was seriously 111.
