GROWTH OF ORLANDOS
Evidence of Tlmt City’s Prosperity.
New Buildings.
Orlando, Fla., April 14.—From pres
ent Indications Orlando has entered
upon an era of growth. Half a dozen
new buildings are in process of erec
tion and many more are under con
tract for completion by the early au
tumn.
Landlord Beeman of the San Juan
Hotel will add two stories to his house
in order to accommodate an increas
ing business. Anew two-story build
ing. seventy feet long by about thirty
feet, is being put up for the Orlando
Church Home and Hospital, one of
the most useful and meritorious in
stitutions in the state. The hospital
already has half a dozen cottages and
ampie grounds. A dozen or more first
class private residences are under con
tract to be put up during the sum
mer, and a movement is on foot to
erect fifty to one hundred moderate
sized cottages.
A subscription of about $1,500 has
been raised for the purpose of more
thoroughly advertising Orlando’s at
tractions and advantages.
The new ice factory started up a
few days ago, thus giving the city two
well equipped ice plants. The price of
this commodity has been reduced to
30 cents per 100 pounds, delivered in
ten-pound blocks, or 35 cents per 100
at the factory.
The orange trees of this section
have put on the finest spring growth
that has been seen for the past twenty
years. The trees bloomed freely and
are now full of young fruit. Every
thing indicates a full crop next win
ter. Grove property promises to ad
vance materially in price during the
next few months.

$10,000,000 steel plant of the Mohaw r k
Valley Steel and Wire Company will
aoon be commenced. The land want
ed for the mammoth plant is owned
by several parties, but it is understood
that they are all willing to sell at a
reasonable price, and the deal for the
site is now about closed.
The company which it is stated had
been awarded the contract, the Gar
rett Engineering Company of Cleve
land, 0., has had engineers here, and
they visited the site and made sound
ing and plats.

IN MEMORIAM.
Savannah, Ga., April 7, 1903.
Report of the committee to draft
suitable resolutions upon the death of
Brother J. E. Harty:
“Men die, but sorrow never dies,
The crowding years divide in vain.
And the wide world/is knit with ties;
Of common brotherhood in pain.”
And Exalted Ruler, our Lodge of
sorrow, alas! has been silently visited
again by that pale Angel, who “loves
a shining mark, a single blow',” and
upon yon white marble record shaft,
erected to our absent ones, in black
ened letters, is carved the name of
brother, “Joseph E. Harty, died March
26th, 1903.”
Exalted Ruler, we bow our heads,
the will of God is all In all, and when
our young brother’s life went out
upon that dark great journey all must
take, though each brother here has
felt and does feel that awful hurt of
heart, that sere of soul-shock from
his untoward dep/arture, we know he
died as he lived, fearlessly, faultlessly
and in the faith of his Lord and Mas
ter, in the hope of a blessed immortal
ity, having the testimony of a good
conscience in the Communion of the
Catholic Church, in the confidence of
a certain fhith, in favor we trust with
the Father of Mercies and the God of
all Comfort, our only hope in time of
need and in perfect charity with the
world.
So to the beloved, dear ones of his
bereaved family, Exalted Ruler, who
while he was "waiting, wasting, suffer
ing much,” his life to them w ? as as fine
as amber, sweet as musk, and they
with him went pilgrim-wise moving
hand in hand from dawn to dusk
“each day nearer Paradise.” To them
we extend our hearts and hands, pray
ing with them and for them, and their
and our departed, that “the Lord may
blesß them and keep them, make His
face to shine upon them and be gra
cious unto them, may lift up His
countenance upon them, and give them
peace both now and evermore.”
