SERIOUS CHARGE MADE
Against a White Man In Montgom
ery County.
Dublin. Ga., July 2. —There may be a
lynching in Montgomery county and

father attempted to assault her.
Brantley was arrested here and was
carried late yesterday afternoon to Mt.
Vernon to answer to the chnrge. It Is
said that Brantley attempted to assault
his daughter at a saw mill near Alamo
early . Sunday morning last.
Brantley and his daughter have been
traveling with a show of some sort. lie
Is from Washington county, and has
some influential family connections.
When arrested he, without asking
what he had been arrested for, said to
the officer: "I am not guilty.” He
then explained the circumstances lead
ing up to the charge of assault against
him. 1 Is said that in addition to the
testimony of the girl, the state will
produce two other witnesses.
