NEWS OF A DAY IN GEORGIA’S CAPITAL THE TWO PARKER CLUBS have xot vet decided to DWELL ISi mn, Rival Orcani*atloii* Still Stick to Their Purpose of Honoring .Incite Parker by Carrying (ieornia for Him. Bat They Do Not Combine Their Forrea—Each Clnb la Main tolninu Separate and Dlatlnct Ileadauarter*. Atlanta, April I.—The two Parker Clubs here are still at dagger's points, and there are no present indications of their getting together. There is a strenuous rivalry gotng on at the Kimball for visitors to the headquarters of the two clubs, which are closely adjoining, but outside of this each appears to be ignoring the other. More signs went up to-day, and now' the Kimball House looks as If It were going to entertain the Na tional Convention, so numerous are the placards. To More Brlabine Games. It looks now as If there will be no more Georgia-Auburn football games in Atlanta. The State Fair Associa tion has accepted the bid of the Tech nological School for the use of Pied mont Park throughout the football season, including, of course, Thanks giving Day. Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting games of any kind at Brisbine Park, and there is no other place at which such games can be played. What Georgia and Au burn will do for their Thanksgiving Day crowd is at present involved In considerable doubt. Woman Held for Harder. Win Knight, a negro man, was stabbed to the heart and died instant ly last night, in a negro club on Broad street. Lizzie Spivey, a negro woman, has been arrested, charged with the crime. The woman declares Knight stabbed himself. Cooper Sueeeeda Hnrdon. Dr. Hunter P. Cooper has been elect ed professor of gyneacology and ob stetrics of the Atlanta College of Phy sicians and Surgeons, in place of the late Dr. Virgil O. Havdon. Big Tract fo lie gold. A big tract of land, 202% acres, fronting 4,500 feet on Peachtree street, just beyond the city limits, belonging to the estate of the late George Wash ington Collier, will be put up at auc tion Tuesday. It is conservatively estimated It will bring more than $300,- 000. Company of Mill Employe*. Gov. Terrell has approved the ap llcation of anew military company to be mustered Into the state service The neiV company will be composed principally of employes of the Unity Cotton Mills at LaGrange, where the company will be located, tt will start with fifty-seven men, and will take the place in the Fifth Regiment, In fantry, of Company H of Rome, re cently disbanded. Respite for William*. Seymour Williams. colored. of Dooly county, sentenced to be hanged April 5. for the murder of a white man named Edmundson, has been re spited until May 6 by Gov. Terrell, that the Prison Commission may have an opportunity to fully investigate his case. POLITICS AT COLI'MIItJS. Some Interest In llie,HMhnd of Se lecting ItrlrKatra. Columbus, Ga., April I.—The Demo cratic Executive Committee of Musco gee county meets to-morrow to ar range the details of the primary of April for the state house offices. Jutlge and solicitor. The committee will hold another meeting on April 21, and after consolidating the returns of the primary will select delegates to the state convention from among the ac tive supporters of the successful can didates In the primary, pursuant to the instructions given the several coun ty committees by the State Democratic Executive Committee. Pressure is being brought to bear upon the Muscogee county committee to disregard the instructions of the state committee in this respect and call a mass meeting, which will select the delegates to the state convention. In all probability the committee will make the selection of delegates itself and ■will not call a mass meeting. The local afternoon paper came out to-day in an editorial. addi..,sed to the committee, calling for a mass meeting under the caption. "Fair Play, Gentlemen.” The committee does not think it has the right to depart from the instructions given by the state committee, and besides does not seem disposed to do so. Inasmuch as the dele gates to the state convention two years ago were selected by the county com mittee. BAHREL FACTORY Bl RAED, Colquitt County Cooperage Company Has a Loss at Moultrie. Moultrie. Ga., April I.—The plant of the Colquitt County Cooperage Com pany was destroyed by fire this after noon. The value of the plant was about $6,000, and it was insured for $3,- 700. The fire originated at the glue furnace at the noon hour, when the men were away. A barn was also burned. The ice factory nearby nar rowly escaped. The barrel factory will be rebuilt at sue*. BARNESVILLE COTTON MILL TO BE SOLD. Long Litigation Will Be Wound Cp With the gale. Barnesvtlle, Ga„ April 1. —The plant and property of the Barnesv’ille Man ufacturing Company, the big cotton mill, will be sold at auction the first Tuesday in June. This will end the litigation which has brought a lot of trouble upon the people of Barnes ville. The sale will be conducted by J. W. Cabaniss of Macon, trustee for the bondholders. The first mortgage bonds amount to $75,000. The mill was closed in December, 1901, and has never been operated since. It having been in all kinds of litigation. The property originally cost about $200,000, but, of course, has deteriorated during Its Idleness It is understood that the creditors have been settled with, their claims having been bought up, but the stock holders sustain a heavy loss, as they will now receive nothing for their holdings. Some time ago the stock holders were offered 10 cents on the dollar for stock, but they would not accept the offer. It is not believed that the property will bring more than enough to pay off the first mortgage bonds. The people are rejoicing, how ever, because its sale will mean that the mill will at least be put In opera tion again. THE WEATHER. SCOURING YOUR SCAUP Will Remove tlie Loose Dandruff Seales. But It Won’t Cure Dandruff. If your hair is brittle and thinning, you have dandruff. The mere scouring of the scalp of the loose scales won't cure dandruff; because dandruff Is nothing but scales of scalp being thrown up by a pestiferous little germ in burrowing its way to the root of the hair where It ars the vitality, causing falling hair and, in time, baldness. Now you can't stop dandruff nor fall ing hair, nor prevent baldness unless you destroy that germ; and the only preparation that can do it is the new scientific discovery Newbro's Herpi cide. In fact, no other hair prepara tion claims to kill the dandruff germ —all of them will clean the scalp; soap and water will do that, but only Newbro's Herpicide gets at the root of the t-oubl- and kills the dandruff germ. f,old by leading druggists.
