convention organized this afternoon by
the election by acclamation of the fol
lowing officers: President of the con
vention. S. H. Rodgers; first vice pres
ident, Joseph Glover; second vice pres
ident, W. N. Heyward, secretary. W.
J. Thomas; member of State Executive
Committee, Thomas Martin, al
ternate member of State Executive
Committee, Thomas Talblrd. The cre
dentials of county executive commit
teemen from the eight county clubs
were read and approved. The follow
ing delegates were then ejected to the
state convention: Thomas Talblrd,
L. Paul, C Cohen. W. F. Sanders,
Joseph Glover. W. C. Vincent, San
ders Glover, TV. N. Heyward: alter
nates: Daniel Mann, T. G. White, F.
T. Hardee, C. J. Colcock. J. C. Bailey,
Thomas Martin. J. E. Kessler, G. San
ders. J M. Rhett, county chairman.
The convention then adjourned, which
was followed by the reorganization of
the County Executive Committee
Thomas F. Walsh was re-elected sec
retary by acclamation.
Child I,bor Uu In Effect.
Columbia, S. C., May 2.—The sec
ond section of the child labor law
went into effect yesterday. This law
was passed by the Legislature in 1903,
the first section being as follows:
•'From and after the first day of May,
1904, no child under 11 years of age
shall be employed in any factory,
mine or textile establishment of the
atat®.”
