COURT-MARTIAL VERDICTS
ARE ALL BUT READY.
It Is Expected That Governor Will
Pass l poll Them To-day.
Atlanta, Oet. 17.—The verdicts of the
court-martial which sat last week in
Savannah for the trial of Capt. It. M.
Hitch, and other officers charged with
dereliction of duty at Statesboro, have
not yet reached the Governor, though
it was expected they would be in his
hands to-day.
It is understood that the verdicts
have been prepared to-day and put in
shape by Judge Advocate General
George M. Napier, and it is expected
they will be filed with the Adjutant
General to-morrow. As soon as they
are filed they will be sent at once to
the Governor for his approval or dis
approval.

BEHIND HIS TICKET.
Friend* Charge That Statesboro
Lynch!UK I* Responsible.
Atlanta, Oct. 17. —Though the vote
for Gov. Terrell was not officially con
solidated along with those of the oth
er State House officials, because of the
fact that it goes to the president of the
Senate for consolidation by the Leg
islature, it was learned to-day that
Gov. Terrell’s total vote was 67,705.
This is 1,175 votes below the head of
the ticket which was led by Secretary
of State Philip Cook. The Governor's
friends think the scratching was due
principally to the action he has taken
in regard to the Statesboro lynching.
STATESBORO’S NEW BANK

Statesboro, Ga„ Oct. 17.—At a recent
meeting of the stockholders of the
Statesboro National Bank the follow
ing officers were chosen: Brooks Sim

ier; Raiford Simmons, \V. \V. Wil
liams, J. A. Wirnock, 11. T. Jones,
James T. Rushing. M. T. Brannen.
and Brooks Simmons, directors. The
bank will begin business, Dee. 1, with
an authorized capital of $25,000 half
of which is paid in, with permanent
quarters at the present location of the
Sea Island Bank of Statesboro.
President Brooks Simmons is a son
of Hr. Raiford Simmons, who owns
SIO,OOO of stock and has been inter

McCrone, cashier, has been for sev
eral years employed by the E. E. Foy
Manufacturing Company at Portal,
Ga., and is a good business man. While
there are two other banks here do
ing well, the new bank Is starting
off under favorable circumstances and
those interested believe that there is
plenty of room for it. Ever since the
First National Bank of Statesboro,
backed by the J. G. Blitch Company,
was thought of and finally merged with
the bank of Statesboro, the third bank
I\HS been considered a certainty.

REWARD FOR UNKNOWN
SLAYER OF UNKNOWN MAN.
State Will Pay S-Oii for Solnttnn of
Klbort County Mystery.
Atlanta, Oct. 17.—A rewhrd of S2OO
was offered by the Governor to-day in
a rather peculiar rase.
It is for the arrest of the unknown
party or parties who killed an unknown
man at an unknown time in Elbert
county.
Late in September the body of a well
dressed white man was found in the
Broad river near Bell's bridge in El
bert county. His hands were bound,
his skull crushed and a sack of rocks
was tied around his body.
The man was about 45 years old, and
is supposed to have been a medicine
vender following Robinson's circus.
The initials on his collur were “C.
A. L.” and there were tattoo marks
on both arms.
The sack of rocks tied to the man's
body had been gathered by a man who
proposed to place them around the
grave of his little boy, but had left
them near the bridge until he might
pass that way with his wagon.
The murder was evidently commit
ted by persons living in the county
and for the purpose of robbery.

IN SUBWAY FOR ATLANTA.
Atlanta, Oct. 17.—The Fulton Coun
ty Commissioners to-day granted the
petition of the Southern Railway for
the right to make underneath cross
ings under Marietta street and Sweat
road, as asked, and without requir
ing the road to make any promise as
to freight rates for Atlanta, as was
demanded by the Atlanta Freight Bu
reau.
The commissioners considered that
as the Southern had purchased the
land and begun these improvements
before the freight rates question came
up. it would be unfair to make any
such requirement as was asked by the
Height bureau. The commissioners’
action has been the subject of some
little criticism by those who have
been making the light for freight
rates.
GEORGIA IS FIGHTING IN
HIGHEST COURT OF LAND.
Atlanta, (Jpt. 17. —Attorney General
John C. Hart left the city to-day for
Washington, whore he goes to argue
before the United States Supreme
Court a case of considerable impor
tance to the state.
When Controller General Wright
tried to collect taxes from the Geor
gia Railroad and Banking Company
on $1,500,000 of the stock of the West
ern Railway of Alabama, which it
holds, he was enjoined by proceed
ings in the United States court by the
Louisville and Nashville and Atlantic
Coast Line, the joint lessees of the
Georgia.
Judge Newman decided in favor of
the railroads and held that the state
could not collect the tax. An appeal
was taken and Judge Hart will rep
resent the state before the Supreme
Court when the ease is heard on Wed
nesday.

TREATMENT OF PILES
Permanence of Cure the True Test.
Many so-called pile remedies will
afford the user slight temporary relief,
and the majority of those aifiieted do
not expect more than this.
The average sufferer, after having
tried every preparation recommended
for the cure of piles, comes to
the conclusion that there is no cure
except by an operation, and
rather than undergo this “last
resort" he suffers on, resigned to
the situation, so far as maybe. The at
tention of those interested is invited to
the following experience:
“After ten years of suffering from
blind, bleeding and protruding piles,
and after using every remedy I could
hear of without any benefit.’ I finally
bought a fifty cent box of Pyramid
Pile Cure, and used it with such good
results I bought next a dollar box,
which finished up the job. That was
nearly six years ago, and as far as
piles Is concerned I am cured, and
have never felt a symptom of them
since.
“Many others have used this remedy
by my advice, with the same results,
and I always recommend it to sufferers
with piles."—C. H. Potts, Burlington,
Kans,
Testimony like this should convince
the most skeptical the Pyramid Pile
Cure not only cures, but cures to stay
cured. It is in the form of a supposi
tory, can be applied in the privacy of
the home, directly to the parts affect
ed and does its work quickly and
painlessly.
Druggists generally sell this famous
remedy for fifty cents a package and
sufferers are urged to buy a package
now and give it a trial to-night. Ac
cept no substitutes.
A little book describing the causes
and cure of piles is published by the
Pyramid Drug Cos., Marshall, Mich.,
and same will be sent free to any
address for the asking.
