'Whereas, Our beloved comrade, Ham
ilton McDevitt Branch, has passed over
the river and Joined the ranks of those
who make up the "silent bivouac of
the dead," and will, therefore, be seen
no more around the camp fires of the
living; and.
Whereas, He shared with ex-Com
mandant U. H. McLaws the honor of
taking the first steps which resulted
in the formation of Francis S. Barton-
Camp No. 93, United Sons of Confeder
ate Veterans, and served the Camp as
Adjutant for a number of years; and,
Whereas, He was devoted to the
cause for which our fathers fought and
to maintain which many of them laid
their lives on the altar of the Southern
Confederacy, and Vas faithful to every
duty, withholding no time or effort
that would benefit the Camp and fur
ther its worthy objects; therefore, be it
Resolved, That In humble submission
to the will of God, the Eternal King
of the nations, we deplore the untime
ly death of Comrade Branch, and place
on reoord our sincere appreciation of
his zealous devotion to the principles
of right and truth, a priceless heritage
erf courage and heroism bequeathed to
us by our fathers, and which will be
sacredly guarded and defended by
every loyal son of a Confederate vet
eran.
Resolved, That we. hereby express our
heartfelt sympathy with the sorrowing
family of our deceased comrade and
direct the Adjutant of this Camp to
forward to them a copy of these pre
ambles end resolutions.
Resolved, That a page of the minute
book of the Camp be suitably inscribed
to the memory of the deceased.
