Wa Maile Public?—Lively Demand,

Statement Regarded as Favorable
Steel Made New High Records.
New York, Nov. 26.—Initial trans
itions In to-day’s stock market were
made up largely of United States Steel
issues, but before the end of the brief
session business increased in volume
and the market broadened until It em
braced a great number of the stand
ard stocks.
At the outset large blocks of Steel
common and preferred came out at
fractional advances and the bonds also
gained. There were slight advances in
such specialties as Colorado Fuel,
Pressed Steel Car and American Lo
comotive. Amalgamated Copper re
sponded to buying by houses supposed
to represent Boston interests. The list
fluctuated narrowly for a brief period,
but shortly before the publication of
the bank statement a heavy buying
movement set in.
Railroad Stock* Active.
There was a lively demand for Union
Pacific, Southern Pacific, Missouri Pa
cific, Brie, Southern Railway, Rock Is
land, Louisville and Nashville, Penn
sylvania and others in the same group.
London bought Union and Southern
Pacific and the extensive purchases of
Erie were probably for account of the
professionals’ short interest.
The market remained active 'to the
close, and prices of many Issues were
then the best of the day. The bank
statement was regarded as favorable
in the sense that the loan decrease, as
well as the cash loss showed better
than had been expected.
New r high prices were registered by
the steel issues. Atchison made a
slight gain, in spite of its poor Oc
tober report. Great Northern preferred
advanced 7 points, making a 17-polnt
gain in two days.

WARE fc I, ELAND
Weekly Stock I.Filer.
New York, Nov. 26.—The long
looked-for reaction in the stock mar
ket came this week and prices were
knocked down from 2to 6 points,
which was perfectly natural, and has
left the market in a much healthier
and safer position, and the sharp
rally of Friday and Saturday only
goes to prove what we have told our
friends all along—this Is a bull market
proper and will continue so for a long
time yet. In our last week's letter
we advised purchases of the steel
'stocks, and the marked advance in
both its common and preferred has
borne us out Republic Iron and Steel
should follow the advance and we look
for higher prices in that stock. Also
Colorado Fuel and Iron, which closed
to-day at 52%. That stock in 1902 sold
as high as 130, and It is likely to go
above par at any time because the
United States steel trust must even
tually control it. The Grangers have
been hanging back for a while, but
closed strong. We look for advances
in Atchison, St. Paul, and Rock Is
land, especially Rock Island. The trac
tion stocks are a law unto themselves
and we would not advise purchases for
some time yet. V. C. is tipped for 60
before/ January. We have good infor
mation on this stock, and it is safe to
buy. Chesapeake and Ohio should go
to 60, and Southern Railway Is a slow
but safe Investment. Norfolk and Wes
tern will gradually advance. But our
favorite for next week is Amalga
mated Copper. We have the best of
Information that it will sell at par be
fore January. The bank statement was
considered favorable and tight money
is a long ways off yet. London is a
heavy buyer in Wall street and that
helps considerable. It seems strange
that the public will persist in buying
cotton on a declining market and lose
money, when the greatest bull market
Wall street has ever had is going on
right under their eyes, and all they
have to do is to buy some stock and
make sure money. We have advised
our friends to buy stocks since last
June and we are still of that opinion.
