For particulars see advertisement. ‘•>'o Funds.”—>Ve understand that- (1>S Commltee of one, appointed by tho £4$-} stltutlonal Convention to proceed to Mil- ledgoviUo and ascertain tho eondltlou of tho Treasury, with a view to obtaining an advance of forty thousand dollars to defray the expenses of tho Convention up to tho 23d Inst., has returned and reported “no funds.” Under these circumstances, the prospects are that the expenses of tho Con vention will have to remain unpaid, until the tax provided for In the ltecon- etructlon law, can lie collected or at least, until some arrangements can bo made to liorrow tho money outside the State treasu ry. There was over twenty thousand dol lars of the funds of tho State on deposit In one of tho banks In this city a few days previous to the assembling of the Conven tion. But this amount, together with all the other available funds of tho State, was taken out and disposed of by Governor Jenkins just before tho meeting of the Convention. A Portrait of Mr. Greeley.
